Over a specially prepared meal, Sigrid spoke with the father about how she was with the Valkrus guild and that she was meant to help deliver supplies to the town; going on to explain the circumstances that lead to his daughter’s capture and everything that transpired afterwards, stating that she would have been sold off if not for her. The father expressed his confusion, stating that the veteran who lead the other members claimed that his daughter was dead and that there was no mention of Sigrid at all, possibly due to her leaving on her own to rescue his little girl. Despite this, the father continued to lavish Sigrid with his praise and admiration, expressing his utmost gratitude for her valor and the lengths she went to not only save his daughter but bring back the remaining supplies, all of which were vital tonics and supplies needed to make stronger medicines. It was then that Sigrid inquired about her fellow guild mates and the shipment of other supplies. The father told Sigrid that her fellow guild members had delivered the supplies and left several days ago. Hearing this, Sigrid thanked the father and just as she prepared to leave, the man told her to wait for a moment. Quickly heading upstairs and returning half an hour later, the man presented Sigrid with a bulging sack of gold and gave her several bottles of the tonic she helped deliver as further thanks for her efforts. In addition, the man handed Sigrid a decorated letter with a special seal on it, telling the wolf not to read it and instead give it to her guild master. Agreeing to his instructions and thanking the man, Sigrid prepared to leave only to be stopped by the daughter who wished to know if she would ever see the wolf again. Smiling, Sigrid patted the girl’s head again and said that she would see her again and if she ever wanted to visit her, to come to the Valkrus guild. Beaming brightly, the girl cheered happily, stating that she hoped to see Sigrid again soon. Saying good bye to both the girl and her father, Sigrid left the town on a direct course back to the guild.
After nearly a week of travel, Sigrid arrived safely back at the guild, tired from her long journey. After entering the guild hall, Sigrid sat down and ordered a meal, ready to eat and rest after her ordeal. As she waited for her food, Sigrid felt a violent shove on her shoulder from behind her. Quickly turning to see who it was, Sigrid was greeted by the scowling face of the veteran who led the quest days prior. Before Sigrid could say anything, the veteran told the rookie guild member that she had some nerve to defy him and abandon her post, leaving the rest of her team unprotected, going on to say that she was a failure for doing so. Sigrid, argued that she had to save the girl, as he wouldn’t do so, going on to reveal what would have happened had she not intervened. The veteran laughed at Sigrid, stating her story was more than likely false given her record of repeated failures. Sigrid continued to argue, unaware that the commotion she was causing was creating a scene throughout the guild with other members watching in stunned silence. Sigrid told the veteran that she managed to save the girl and deliver the supplies that were pilfered from the caravan, going as far as to show the pouch of gold she received as proof. In a swift motion, the veteran snatched the pouch away from Sigrid, claiming that whether or not what she was saying was true, she did not deserve the money in his eyes for leaving the team and ignoring his orders. It was at this moment that Sigrid’s anger had peaked, not just from having her money taken but for being treated poorly for doing the right thing. In that instant, Sigrid delivered a swift and steady punch to the veteran’s face, knocking him to the floor. Before the veteran could gather his senses, Sigrid had taken back her money and prepared another blow; but before she could she was told to stop by a voice behind her. Quickly turning, Sigrid immediately identified the source and her heart sank upon seeing it. From across the guild hall, the guild master stood with his arms crossed and a stern expression adorning his face. In that moment, the guild mastered asked to see Sigrid in his office. Still somewhat frustrated, Sigrid complied and headed towards the guild master’s office. Upon making it to the guild master’s quarters, Sigrid took a seat at the meeting table that sat in the center of the room, with the guild master sitting directly across from her. Upon taking his seat, the guild master informed Sigrid about her conduct during the last mission, telling her how her leaving her team was unacceptable and how he believed giving her the assignment would have yielded greater results. The guild master went further by stating how he saw great potential in Sigrid given her outstanding performance in the gather and fetch assignments, but concluded that his intuition must have been wrong. Sighing heavily, the guild master reminded Sigrid of the repercussions of failing the request and how it was her last chance. Sigrid, stated how she had good reason to leave as she needed to save a little girl who was kidnapped from the caravan she was helping escort. Hearing this, the guild master’s expression went from disappointed to mildly shocked. It was then that the guild master stated that the veteran merely stated that Sigrid merely abandoned the group but didn’t specify the reason as to why. As the guild master thought to himself, Sigrid quickly remembered the letter she was supposed to give him. Quickly plucking the parchment from her bag, Sigrid handed the letter to the guild master, explaining who it was from. Taking the letter from Sigrid, the guild master’s expression quickly changed to shock upon seeing the seal placed on it. Quickly opening the letter, the guild master began reading it, and after several eerily quiet and uneventful minutes, the old man looked up from the paper at Sigrid with a gleam in his eye. Setting the letter down, the guild master asked if Sigrid knew who the man was that handed her the letter, to which the wolf said no. The guild master smiled and told Sigrid that the man was not just the client who requested the escort but a very influential merchant who had many connections with various kingdoms and crafters.
It was then that the guild master explained everything that was said in the latter, from Sigrid’s valor and the way she went out of her way to rescue the merchants beloved daughter, even how she delivered the goods that were stolen. The guild master beamed at Sigrid, stating the circumstances as to why the importance of the merchant’s daughter was kept secret, for fear that more people might target the caravan in an attempt to capture and use her as leverage for unscrupulous negotiations. The guild master asked Sigrid if she knew about the importance the daughter had and curiously asked why she felt the unrelenting need to rescue her given she could have been a normal little girl. Sigrid told the guild master that she had no idea as to the little girls’ status due it never being brought up despite their numerous conversations. Despite this, Sigrid told the guild master how the little girl depended on her and trusted her to keep her safe; going on to state that she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself if she abandoned the girl or failed to protect her. Hearing the wolf’s response, the guild master reiterated if Sigrid knew the penalty for failing the request, to which she one again said yes, this time in a more dismal tone. The guild master chuckled and stated that Sigrid did not have to worry, as she was not only able to stay with the guild, but she had made the rank of hunter. Caught off guard by this, Sigrid asked why this was due to her not completing the mission with her fellow guild members. The guild master laughed full-heartedly and told Sigrid that she did succeed in the mission by delivering the merchants’ daughter and the stolen goods to their destination, but managed to fight and protect another, show casing her resolve in battle and what the guild represented. Hearing these words, Sigrid was nearly overwhelmed by her happiness, thanking the guild master for both the opportunity and understanding; only for him to state that he knew she had the potential and that he was glad to keep her as part of the guild. It was then that Sigrid questioned what would become of the veteran who lied to both the guild master and the merchant about Sigrid and the girl. The guild master told the concerned wolf that the veteran would face punishment with having his rank reduced and future pay from future requests halved until he was sure he could be trusted again; stating how such dishonesty was not befitting of a member of his guild. Standing up from the table, the guild master thanked Sigrid again for her efforts, expressing his pride in her before telling her she could go, stating how excited he was to see her efforts in the future. A warm smile on her face, Sigrid thanked the guild master and left the room ready to enjoy her meal. As Sigrid walked back to her table, she overheard the guild master summon the veteran to his office, and as the two passed and glared at one another, Sigrid couldn’t help but have a mocking smile on her face. After sitting down and enjoying a leisurely meal, Sigrid left the guild hall and purchased an inn for the night with her newly acquired funds, ready for a well-deserved sleep. Before she turning in, Sigrid felt an odd desire to look at her weapon after the ordeal she had been through. Unsheathing her sword from its scabbard, Sigrid gazed at the damaged blade, running her fingers along is various scratches and chips; all the while thinking back to how she defended the girl from the raiders. As Sigrid though about what she had gone through, she soon began to think back to the Sifnir warriors she was a descendant of and what they stood for. Recalling the stories she was told by her grandparents, Sigrid remembered that her ancestors fought for something and battled to keep that thing safe; from their country, their homes, and their people, the warriors of old did all they could to defend what mattered most to them. It was then that Sigrid recalled the words the guild master told her upon explaining what the guild ultimately represented; and after reflecting of the past events, Sigrid couldn’t help but smile with pride, truly realizing what she would be fighting for and how hard she was willing to fight for it. Making up her mind that she would no longer cower in fear or feel nervous when faced with battle, stating that she would confront every challenge that presented itself to her and never back down again.
From that point onward, Sigrid cherished her new role as a hunter, undertaking many different requests, both combat and fetch orientated; all the while improving her skill in battle and strengthening her resolve. So great was Sigrid’s drive and pursuit of bettering her craft that she was able to complete various quests single-handedly and in startling amounts of time, resulting in her garnering a reputation as one of the Valkrus guilds top hunters. However, as the years went on, Sigrid’s efficiency and skill grew so great that eventually word of mouth of her exploits would spread like wildfire, with various requesters going so far as to request her service specifically by name, either to utilize the skills that were so highly regarded or to confirm the rumors themselves. For years, Sigrid undertook and completed various requests ranging from combative encounters, transporting valuable or highly sought-after goods, escorting important clients to far off destinations, and defending villages and towns from a variety of threats. As Sigrid’s reputation grew more and more pronounced, her popularity also increased exponentially, with many guild members young and old, admiring or envying her due to her strength and skill, with many desiring to either be a part of the requests she undertook or to be trained by her. It wasn’t long before Sigrid had claimed the spot as the number 1 hunter of the Valkrus guild, being able to defend her title and reputation from many would be challengers to her position. As Sigrid’s age and experience increased, she would offer aspiring hunters’ advice and training to help them overcome any struggles they had, acting as a mentor to those who were struggling. From her numerous battles and travels, Sigrid would periodically venture back home to tell her family about her endeavors, with her parents and grandparents expressing their pride for their once young wolf. As all of Sigrid’s accomplishments continued to rise, her name became famous across the land, her dream of making her name known and showcasing the might of her lineage being accomplished. However, Sigrid would find her efforts further increasing, but not before hardship could strike.
One day, Sigrid was given an urgent request to help defend a small farming village from an invasion of bandits, and due to her expertise, she was specifically requested for job. Determined to help the village at all costs, Sigrid made it her priority to save everyone she could. Making her way to the village, Sigrid was greeted warmly by the townsfolk who desperately implored her help as they wouldn’t be able to fight of the bandits alone. Giving the villagers her word, Sigrid stated that she would do her best to help defend the village. Thanking Sigrid for her help, the villagers explained the circumstances they faced and the possible time the bandits would attack. Understanding the situation, Sigrid felt it would be best to keep guard outside the village so that she would be prepared for any attacks. As such, Sigrid stood just outside the confines of the village and stood guard for several days in order to counter any possible assaults or sneak attacks. Unfortunately, while the bandits did attack at the theorized time, they surrounded the village and converged from every direction, thus making it difficult for Sigrid to efficiently counter them all. The bandits’ tactic caused various fights to breakout over different sections of the town, quickly resulting in chaos spreading amongst the village and its citizens. Using her determination as a tool once again, Sigrid engaged in various battles with multiple bandits, being sure to end her fights as quickly as possible so that she could protect everyone else. However, amidst the various skirmishes between Sigrid, the villagers, and the bandits, some of the invaders felt it best to set fires to nearby homes as distractions so they could continue to pilfer and loot. While these blazes succeeded in diverting attention, they ultimately proved useless due to Sigrid’s stalwart pursuit to rid the village of the invaders and protect its citizens. After several hours, Sigrid managed to kill many of the bandits, with many fleeing due to her presence and their fleeting numbers. Having won the battle, Sigrid and the other villagers rejoiced at their victory, with the latter graciously thanking the former. Though her duty was done, Sigrid believed it was a good idea to check the entire village to make sure there were no bandits possibly hiding. As Sigrid overlooked the village and tended to some of the injured citizens, she came across a small house on the outskirts of the village with its door broken in and various windows broken. The home exuded an ominous aura that Sigrid couldn’t ignore, and due to her desire to check on the people inside, she felt obligated to investigate.
Peering into the small house, Sigrid was startled by the sight, somewhat unsure as to how to process it. The home’s interior was ravaged with various objects broken and thrown about, as if a fight had erupted within the once cozy atmosphere. As Sigrid looked around, her attention was quickly caught by the sound of a child’s crying coming from above her. Rushing upstairs as fast as she could, Sigrid was treated to a ghastly sight. There, in a pool of blood lied a man with a sword through his chest, a bandit with a slashed throat, and a crying girl in her bed no older than 2 years of age. Rushing over to the girl, Sigrid picked the crying child up and cradled her, trying her best to sooth the frightened child. Though frightened, the child cuddled Sigrid and her cries began to fade as she softly fell asleep. As Sigrid held the girl, she kneeled down to check on the presumed father and bandit, both of which were dead. Filled with guilt, Sigrid took the child as she continued to investigate the village. As Sigrid continued to look about and check on the other citizens, Sigrid asked various townsfolk if there was any possible information regarding the girl or her father. Unfortunately, many of the citizens stated that they had no clue as to who the little girl was; going on to state that they didn’t know of any possible family members or even a name. Making matters worse was that fact that after checking on every other citizen in the town, Sigrid was able to confirm that while other villagers had received injuries, no one aside from the girl’s father was killed. It was then that Sigrid felt an overwhelming sense of dread and guilt, blaming herself for not being able to protect the girls’ family and leaving the young girl alone with no one to care for her. Racked with guilt, Sigrid refused payment for her service by the village and instead choose to help with repairs to the homes that needed them, while simultaneously taking care of the now orphaned girl. However, as Sigrid cared for the toddler, continuing to cradle the little girl, the wolf knew exactly what she had to do. After helping the villagers repair their houses, Sigrid paid the little girls’ home one final visit. Upon making it there, Sigrid spent her time creating a grave for the girl’s father, apologizing for not being there to protect him, but vowing she would not fail with his daughter. After finishing the grave, Sigrid gathered all of girl’s belongings and took them with her as she traveled back to the guild. As Sigrid traveled back to the guild, she held the young girl in her arms and promised the toddler that she would be taking responsibility for her, stating that even if her father was gone, she would make things right by being the girl’s new mother.
Upon making it back to the guild, Sigrid informed the guild master about everything that had happened and how she adopted the young girl. The guild master, understanding and commending Sigrid on her decision, asked the wolf how she planned on taking care of a child and continuing her guild work. It was then that Sigrid asked the guild master if he would help her and possibly act as her godfather should something happen. Th guild master chuckled, stating that while he already had kids of his own as well as a godchild already, he would be honored to help care for Sigrid’s newly adopted daughter. Thanking the guild master deeply, Sigrid promised her new daughter that she would work hard to keep her safe. Curious, the guild master asked what Sigrid’s new daughter would be named, only for the wolf to look at the little girl in her arms and question that same thing. As Sigrid’s new little girl looked up at her adoptive mother and reached up at her, Sigrid couldn’t help but hold the toddler’s hand and smile; stating that her daughter’s name was “Freya”.
Over the following years, Sigrid’s resolve and drive further increased, with her daughter being at the forefront of her efforts. Though Sigrid continued her guild work, she always made sure to care for Freya upon returning to the guild, using the money to make a better life for her daughter. However, as time went on, Sigrid wished to be with her daughter more and more, wanting to properly nurture and care for her, something that her guild work and peoples’ dependency on her would not permit. Over time, Sigrid’s desire to be a good mother to Freya resulted in the wolf seeking out worthy successors to carry on her will, so that she could spend time with Freya. Unfortunately, the various members that Sigrid sought did not display the resolve, potential, or ethics that she desired, thus leaving her to tend to her guild duties while only seeing Freya at sporadic intervals. However, Sigrid would soon find a worthy successor sooner than she thought.
One day, as Sigrid was playing with Freya, the wolf was approached by the guild master with a serious request for her. Curious, Sigrid read the request details and was truly shocked by what she read. As fate would have it, a distant nation wished to elicit Sigrid’s skill in an upcoming war between them and another kingdom, stating that it would take a good deal of time to finish. Though reluctant to take the request due to how daunting it seemed, Sigrid couldn’t refuse due to both how desperate the requester appeared in the details in addition to her desire to keep others safe. Letting loose a deep and heavy sigh, Sigrid told the guild master she would accept the request. Hearing how frustrated Sigrid seemed, Freya asked if her mother would be alright, only for the wolf to kiss her daughter on the forehead and assure her that she would be fine and that she would be going away for a while.
A week later, Sigrid found herself gathering her supplies and with a heavy heart, bid her daughter goodbye, with a hug and a promise that she would return after everything was settled. Leaving the guild, Sigrid traveled for several weeks, finally making it to the destination specified on the request she received. Over the next 2 years, Sigrid helped a small kingdom fend off invading forces, with many marveling at her skill and prowess in battle. Upon ensuring the kingdom’s victory and helping the soldiers claim peace for their home and its citizens, Sigrid bid her fellow warriors and citizens goodbye; receiving a vast reward for her service and helping the kingdom claim victory. Traveling back to the guild, Sigrid was excited to see Freya again, but as she traveled, she began to fear the worst due to having been gone for so long.
Finally making it back to the Hildr valley village, Sigrid was greeted warmly by many of the citizens and passing guild members, happy to see the town’s prized hunter return. Upon making it to the Valkrus guild, every member in attendance greeted and cheered for Sigrid and her safe return. Flattered, Sigrid couldn’t help but blush at the attention. Hearing the guilds thunderous cheers, Freya along with the guild master emerged from the latter’s office with the former rushing to greet her mother. Sigrid, embracing her daughter tightly, asked Freya if she was ok, to which she excitedly said yes. Greeting Sigrid back, the guild master expressed his own happiness with a firm hug and an update as to everything that had happened during the wolf’s time away. While Sigrid was happy to hear that her daughter was well behaved, something the guild master told her truly unnerved and shocked her. As fate would have it, during Sigrid’s absence, the town was attacked by a dreaded creature known as the “Incindrus”, a monster that many guild members feared and few dared to challenge. Though Sigrid had only heard of the creature, she knew the grim tales and bloodshed it was capable of. Hearing that the beast attacked the town, Sigrid asked the guild master what happened during the attack, with the old man stating that the guild managed to drive it off, but not without a few members getting seriously injured as a result. Though the creature was driven away, this did not provide Sigrid with any form of relief, knowing that the beast had ventured into the town. Worried that the Incindrus might return, Sigrid told the guild master that she would pursue it and slay it to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. The guild master let out a deep chuckle, stating that there was no need as it had already been killed. Curious, Sigrid asked if a team of hunters killed it, to which the guild master stated that a rookie hunter managed to fell the beast. Shocked by this, Sigrid questioned how that was possible due to the reputation the beast had. Asking the guild master who the hunter was, the old man beamed brightly and proudly as he explained that the hunter’s name was Soliana, his other goddaughter. Freya, excitedly told her mother how Soliana saved the town from the Incindrus and how she went off on her own to do so. Hearing this, Sigrid was baffled, but hearing that Soliana managed to slay the beast, left the wolf with a feeling of relief. Wanting to thank Soliana personally, Sigrid asked the guild master where she could possibly find the novice hunter. Thinking for a moment, the guild master told Sigrid she would more than likely be at the training grounds. Thanking the guild master, Sigrid along with her daughter, walked to the training grounds, eager to speak with the young guild member responsible for saving the town.
Making her way to the training grounds, Sigrid saw other young and aspiring hunters training with each other, attempting to hone their skills. After a moment of looking, Sigrid saw Soliana resting on one of the outer benches, talking to other guild members. Upon Walking over to Soliana, many of the young guild members immediately took notice of Sigrid, with most of them excitedly chattering at her arrival. Greeting the small gathering warmly, Sigrid talked briefly with the other members, stating how she hoped they were pushing themselves, to which they all said they were doing their best. Smiling at the responses she received, Sigrid singled out Soliana and asked to speak with her privately, which prompted many of the others to state their jealousy of the fox. Confused as to why Sigrid wanted to speak with her, Soliana complied and accompanied Sigrid and Freya away from the training grounds. After getting far enough away where no one would interrupt the conversation, Sigrid told Soliana how she knew about the fox’s confrontation with the dreaded Incindrus, thanking the young guild member for protecting the town in her absence and expressing how such a feat was impressive; but curiously, asked why she put herself in such danger when there was such a chance she could have been killed. Thanking Sigrid for her commendation, Soliana revealed that her parents were killed by the Incindrus many years ago, hence why the guild master took her in; and as a result, she didn’t want anyone else to die from the beast, especially seeing as she could do something about it. Soliana explained that while many of the other guild members feared it, she wanted to stop the creature, not caring if she got hurt or not; claiming that she didn’t want to lose her teammates, her godfather, or Freya, who she affectionately referred to as her “little sister”. Soliana told Sigrid that she wasn’t content in cowering in fear, and did what she believed the best hunter of the guild would do, and that was fight and protect everyone. Listening to Soliana speak and the bravery she displayed despite being so young, reminded Sigrid of herself when she found her resolve to fight on behalf of others. Smiling brightly at Soliana’s, explanation, Sigrid revealed to the fox that she was looking to retire from the guild and spend time with Freya, but explained she was uncertain if someone would be able to take her place and carry out her will upon leaving. However, Sigrid explained that after hearing Soliana’s explanation and the qualities she demonstrated, she stated how the fox would be a more than suitable replacement for her.
Hearing the news, Soliana couldn’t believe everything that was told to her, questioning Sigrid’s decision both to retire from the guild and to leave her as a replacement. Sigrid smiled at Soliana and stated that the young guild member embodied what she had strived to do and stated how she had faith that she could not only replace her, but surpass her. Placing a hand on Soliana’s head, Sigrid asked graciously if Soliana would take up the mantle from her, to which a teary eyed Soliana stated she would. Hugging Soliana tightly, Sigrid thanked the fox, but told her not to tell anyone else what they had discussed. As Soliana promised to keep the conversation secret, Sigrid told the fox that she would work hard to train her so that she would be sufficiently prepared for the future. Thanking Soliana once more, Sigrid released the young member back to her training, smiling that she had found a worthy successor. That night, Sigrid spoke with the guild master and explained her desire to retire and who she would be leaving in her place, stating that she had faith in the person’s ability to protect the town and carry out her will. Though the guild master was saddened to hear of Sigrid’s departure, he acknowledged how much she had done for the guild and how much people cherished her, stating that he fully trusted her decision and supported it; swearing to also keep the conversation a secret per Sigrid’s request. Explaining her plan to the guild master, Sigrid stated that she would work with Soliana on several missions and personally train her so that she would be well-suited to be her replacement, smiling confidently at the prospect.
Over the following months, Sigrid would continually go on higher importance requests all the while using her influence to have Soliana accompany her so that the young fox would receive adequate training and the experience to solidify her skill. As Sigrid and Soliana trained together, the former could sense how the latter steadily improved and grew stronger, furthering the wolf’s faith that she had made the right choice. After nearly a year of training, Sigrid had nothing more to teach Soliana; and with that being said, the wolf was ready to retire and live life with her daughter. Informing the guild master of Soliana’s progress, Sigrid told the old man that she was ready to leave the guild with Freya. Hugging Sigrid tearfully, the guild master told Sigrid how much he appreciated her and how she was always welcome to rejoin the guild and visit the town. Sigrid expressed her own thanks to the guild master for everything he had done for her, from giving her a chance all those years ago, to taking care of her daughter, stating that nothing he did was not valued. Finishing up the conversations, the guild master told Sigrid that there would be a celebration for her retirement, with all guild members and citizens welcome to join. Agreeing to the ceremony, Sigrid expressed her excitement, with Freya cheering for her mother.
Over the next few weeks, the guild master spread the news of Sigrid’s retirement, with many guild members and citizens saddened at the news. Despite this, many wished to see their beloved hunter off with a joyous celebration. In the meantime, Sigrid gathered her belongings in preparation for the day after, feeling her own sorrow of leaving, but her happiness at having to spend time with Freya and relief that Soliana would be able to succeed her. As the fated day arrived, the entire town and guild was an uncontrollable stir of festivities, with drink, stories, and a massive feast prepared in honor of Sigrid’s retirement. As the guest of honor, Sigrid told stories of her exploits over the years she was a hunter, with many listening intently to her captivating tales. As the night progressed, Sigrid felt her emotions overwhelming her as she felt a strange blend of happiness and sadness, but regardless she couldn’t help but express her joy with everyone who attended the ceremony. Before the ceremony was over, Sigrid called the attention of everyone attending the party, stating that she had been training someone she knew would do a superb job as a hunter upon her departure. Calling Soliana to her side, Sigrid told everyone that the fox would be an amazing hunter just like her; and upon revealing this, the entire town broke out in thunderous applause and cheering for Soliana, who couldn’t help but blush at the attention. After the ceremony concluded, Sigrid told everyone attending that she would be leaving her first sword at the guild as a memento for those aspiring to be a great hunter like her. From her belongings, Sigrid pulled out an old sword that showed obvious signs of wear and damage along with multiple repairs, stating that every guild member starts at the beginning and she hopes the old weapon reminded others of their start and what they were aiming for. As Sigrid handed the old weapon to the guild master, the old man graciously accepted the sword, stating how it would be hung in the main hall as a testament and reminder of the strongest hunter the Valkrus guild had ever seen. Beaming proudly, Sigrid thanked the guild master and all of her fellow guild members, stating how much she enjoyed fighting alongside them all. As Sigrid spoke these words, another thunderous applause broke out, as everyone cheered the wolf’s name.
The next morning, just as Sigrid prepared to leave with her daughter, the guild master along with the entire guild and town approached the wolf as a final farewell with the former stating that they all hoped to see her again. As everyone said goodbye to Sigrid, the touched wolf shed several tears with a smile on her face. Saying goodbye to everyone who revered her, Sigrid and Freya left the Hildr valley village, waving farewell, with the promise she would see them again.
Several weeks following her departure, Sigrid and Freya moved into a new home in the snowy mountains where the former continued to live her peaceful life with her daughter, teaching her everything she could and spending her time in serenity and peace; ultimately feeling as if she had not only made her ancestors proud but happy at what she was able to accomplish in her life, ready to continue on.
Personality: During her childhood, Sigrid was a generally cheerful and carefree girl, always demonstrating a great deal of enthusiasm and energy when it came to doing things she enjoyed or took an interest in. Due to her young age at the time, Sigrid often acted on impulse and would often rely on her emotions to spur her into action, rather than using logic or foresight. As a result, Sigrid would sometimes create issues or frustrations for herself, which would require her to take a moment and think of a solution as opposed to already having something planned out. While Sigrid would often get discouraged with setbacks, she has proven herself to be both a hard worker and very persistent; best demonstrated by her constantly trying to earn her status as a hunter despite multiple failed attempts and the dangers that were sure to follow. One of Sigrid’s most prominent traits as a young girl was how much she idolized her ancestors, so much so that she wanted to emulate them in an effort to bring glory back to their name, despite not having any real reason to do so. Due to this goal, it can be reasoned that Sigrid was fairly ambitious despite her young age, having set such a goal for herself. However, despite how much enthusiasm and passion she had, Sigrid had a distinct lack of resolve that would make itself known when faced with confrontation, as shown during her encounter with the bandits at the guard force’s storehouse. It wasn’t until she risked her life to save the merchant’s daughter that Sigrid’s resolve strengthened and her confidence solidified, allowing her to mature and grow into the woman she is today.
As an adult, Sigrid behaves in more self-assured and confident fashion, usually presenting herself as a caring, albeit somewhat boisterous individual with a great deal of compassion and a heart of gold. Despite being a seasoned warrior and highly-skilled veteran, Sigrid is very gentle and remarkably open-hearted; and although sometimes possessing a firm air to her, she can be easy to approach in spite of her reputation. In fact, those who genuinely know or have met Sigrid have claimed that the most intimidating thing about her would undoubtedly be her reputation, which her demeanor greatly contradicts.
In contrast to her younger more impulsive self, Sigrid behaves in a more levelheaded manner, showing just how much she has matured since youth. This is proven by her ability to effectively think things through instead of rushing headfirst into situations. Befitting her more sensible mindset, Sigrid’s years of combat experience and dealing with various people has birthed a great deal of wisdom and knowledge in relation to both the craft of survival and combat, as well as the inner struggles one may experience. It’s for this reason, that Sigrid was consulted many times by other guild members both young and old in order to help them with their short comings or the struggles they faced. This is highly evident in her interactions with the likes of Soliana and Giselle, two hunters that would demonstrate great potential and strength due to Sigrid’s guidance. In addition, Sigrid is surprisingly perceptive thanks to both her own past experience as a rookie and her current expertise, as she is able to properly gauge and decipher issues with many inexperienced fighters, whether it be a trembling grip on their weapon or inconsistence with their movements and attacks, which usually indicates lack of confidence, wavering resolve, or fear. Due to Sigrid’s wisdom and experience, she takes great joy in helping others overcome their personal hurdles and allowing them to grow and reach greater heights as a result. This is proven by those Sigrid personally trains gaining more confidence in themselves and their abilities, instead of being stifled by their doubts and frustrations.
Although Sigrid has grown considerably since her youth, one thing that has remained constant is her undying respect and admiration for her forebears. As Sigrid possesses a great deal of pride in her lineage, she is quick to tell people of her heritage whenever the opportunity presents itself. This love and appreciation for her ancestors has caused Sigrid to embody the various morals and ethics that the warriors of old commonly lived by, so much that it has become a deeply intertwined part of her life. Due to how closely she follows her ancestor’s philosophies, Sigrid often times feels a great deal of regret or shame if she feels as if she failed to meet the same standards or disgraced them in any way. A perfect example of this was during the start of Sigrid’s career; in which she would commonly get discouraged if she failed to properly protect the people who requested her aid, believing herself to be unworthy of being a descendant of the Sifnir, as she felt she failed to carry out their will. Though Sigrid is staunchly loyal to her ancestors and their beliefs, she has created several of her own principals that she follows intently, along with several traits that are frequently displayed. One such trait lies within Sigrid’s deep sense of responsibility, especially when it comes to correcting anything she believes she failed at. A perfect example of this lies within Sigrid’s adopted daughter Freya, as Sigrid blames herself for being unable to protect the only family the girl had, thus leaving her orphaned. However, due to her kindness and desire to rectify her failing, Sigrid wished to bear the responsibility of acting as Freya’s mother and taking on the duty of raising her due to not wanting the young girl to feel either abandoned or alone with no one to care for her. It is worth noting that Sigrid choose to freely do this, as opposed to simply finding someone else to raise her, further showcasing her desire to do what’s right. Further supporting this, is Sigrid’s choice in helping repair or pay for anything she happens to damage or destroy when aiding someone, stating she is not one to simple leave after a task is completed or leave any worse off than when she arrived.
Although Sigrid is highly respected by many people from both the Valkrus guild and across the land, she remains both courteous and respectful to other warriors, both seasoned and inexperienced. Sigrid is constantly humbled by the praise and admiration that she received, and despite having received so much of it over the years, she still finds herself getting embarrassed on occasion because of it. Sigrid uses the praise she receives as a driving force to keep her striving for improvement. Complimenting Sigrid’s humble nature is her distinct lack of enjoyment when people give her titles that suggest superiority; as she will frequently state that she is simply a Valkrus guild hunter.
Having done so many requests and put in such effort to reach her position and rank, Sigrid believes thoroughly in hard work and effort, with her own being best described as “infectious”; as she has been able to inspire and push those around her into improving and bettering both their skills and morals. Aside from displaying her own work ethic, Sigrid enjoys telling stories of her exploits to fellow warriors, especially young aspiring hunters in the hopes that it will inspire them to work just as hard if not harder to achieve their own goals; such as in the case of Giselle. As Sigrid values hard work and effort, she states that she doesn’t like taking shortcuts, preferring to do the job right the first time as opposed to taking shortcuts and creating more work more herself and others.
Although Sigrid did a majority of jobs for money, her noble nature still manages to shine through her seemingly mercenary like occupation; in that it is not the sole reason she decided to take on requests. Instead of behaving like a simple sellsword, Sigrid often took requests based on how much danger or desperation the requester faced, rather than the amount the job paid; acting more like a champion for people and offering her aid to those in need. This is further proven by the fact that Sigrid would sometimes outright refuse payment due to her simply wanting to help, not caring if someone could reliably pay her or pay her at all. In addition, Sigrid can sometimes be picky with the requests, preferring to avoid requests made by those who she deems “unsavory”. This was a trait that Sigrid passed onto her disciple Soliana, as she too doesn’t fuss over money nor does she take on the more reprehensible requests.
Despite how gentle and caring Sigrid is, she is still a skilled warrior that has participated in countless battles; as such she can be decidedly fierce, seemingly channeling the destructive capability her ancestors were known for in a single vessel, often times fighting enemies like a rampaging berserker, but with the distinct trait of being able to decipher friend from foe and strategize in the midst of battle. Like her ancestors, Sigrid enjoys combat and the various aspects that come with it, but she was always cautious so that innocents weren’t caught in the skirmish and homes weren’t damaged; fully embracing an opportunity to go wild with reckless abandon when given the chance. Despite this, if a situation could be avoided, Sigrid had no issue being diplomatic and trying to talk her way out of a situation, especially if she felt it was unnecessary; which was usually when others were involved.
As Sigrid had achieved her goal of making her ancestors proud and showcasing their will, she states that her greatest accomplishment is being able to inspire others; and though she is no longer a guild hunter, she still feels a sense of joy from being able to inspire others, something she hopes will carry on for the generations to come.
And there you have it, another beautiful warrior to the roster of badass ladies! This amazing ref sheet was done by my good friend Jessicaelwood/Matymaty. I hope you all enjoy and be on the lookout for this white wolf in the future!
*TRIVIA: Sigrid is the only mother character to not have biological children, having only adopted her daughter Freya.
