Sketch Commission by

My rock star wanna-be, Jett, completely lost in a world of sound and loving every minute of it.
It's amazing how much you can fall in love with a character, sometimes. While I adopted Jett, and didn't create her myself, she has really become one of my very favorite characters, and one I can really kind of identify with. I tried my hand at being a musician when I was younger, and while I completely sucked at it, it's something I've always wished I could do. So Jett gets to live out my fantasies a little, by living out her own. That, and sometimes I just sit and listen to my own music and let it take me into myself. You'd be surprised how many of my stories have been inspired by this song or that one.
I love her piano-key skirt. The piano was one of the instruments I tried to learn, and it's Jett's instrument of choice. Unfortunately pianos are a bit large for a lot of commissions, especially cute sketches like this one. So she gets to have the symbolic skirt instead.

She really did. But then,
strawberryneko was the one who created Miss Jett in the first place, so I had a feeling she'd do a great job with this. I just bought the cute little Snowie later, and have loved her ever since.

Isn't it?
strawberryneko does such wonderfully cute art, and there's something that's just so sweet about this one. Plus I was glad to be able to commission her to draw Jett again. Nobody can draw a character quite like the one who created her. I kind of wonder what she's listening to, as well. I haven't really defined Jett's musical tastes all that well yet. I don't want to write myself into a corner with any part of her character. But it's most likely some kind of rock music. She does play the piano, yes. It's an instrument I'm somewhat familiar with, and I wanted her to play something a bit different, too. So many characters who have any kind of rock background play the guitar and I just kind of wanted Jett to defy tradition a little bit. I haven't decided if she plays anything else, or what she might play if she does. Though I suspect she knows enough about the guitar to at least get by.
I love her piano-themed skirt, and I kind of want one of my own! The collar on her tail was part of her original design, so I don't know if there's a better term for it, either. But it is cute, too, and it kind of gives her a bit of an unusual look that I really like.

It really is a wonderful instrument, as you say, and it's amazing how versatile the piano can really be. I know when I used to play, I tried everything from Scott Joplin (and wasn't The Entertainer a nightmare?!) to John Lennon, and that's really where I got my idea to let Jett play piano as a rock musician. That, and I absolutely love what groups like The Beatles did with their piano work.
As for synths, I hadn't even thought of her playing them, but that's not a bad idea at all. Not that I know the first thing about them, but I think I could fake it.

Aw, thanks. I do hope to do a lot more with Miss Jett once I've got my latest project typed up. I think I'm finally starting to get a good feel for who she is and what she wants, beyond just the music. It all really kind of clicked in place once I started working on developing Cassandra and realized that the two of them would work very well together. In fact, I have every intention of making the two of them a couple. There I go, wanting to pair all of my characters up! At this point, I think only Jessamine and Deirdre don't have someone. Well, and some of my brand new characters, but I'm still working on developing them. It's about time I paired a fox up with someone who isn't a rabbit, too!
Thanks, I'm glad you like her! I've actually had her for quite a while now but I haven't had the chance to do much with her. Which is a shame since she's one of my very favorites out of my adoptees. Fortunately, I've got some more art of her coming to me and I think I've got enough of a handle on her to really start to write for her.
