Another mood piece of sorts as winter months set in. A few weeks ago I followed a buck a ways up an alley outside my apartment and watched him before he disappeared through another hedge.
Unlike my previous deer-themed piece - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43870536/ - in which the hero is mesmerized and unaware of his transformation, I think this fellow is fully aware and transforming of his own free will. I like to think someone has just stumbled across him in mid-transformation and caught him by surprise, as sometimes happens with deer.
In another moment he'll be on all fours and disappear into the woods, probably to spend the rest of the winter, if not longer.

I really like the atmosphere of this piece, the contrast between the barren, black trees and grey winter sky ahead and the warm color palette of the soon-to-be-deer, who is about to embrace that monochrome landscape ahead, giving one last look back. Like, I see a foreboding, but also hopeful quality into it? Like, you're changing yourself to better endure and adapt to uncertain/tough-looking times ahead, but you're changing yourself and adapting on your own terms, later than let yourself be changed into something that doesn't reflect you by external factors, or not change at all be unprepared and swept away. Or maybe the winter landscape only looks foreboding to human eyes? Idk, I'm just very captivated by this piece, the face of the transforming deer in particular.
Sorry for the kinda lengthy rambly comment from outta nowhere, I don't think I have commented on your art before before, but I've liked your work a lot for a long time.

This is a wonderful tf! The atmosphere of the background is really great, and I love the pose and surprised expression of this "nude deer" - his fully transformed bottom half and his hands curling up as they become hooves are my favorite parts! It's also cute that he's transforming of his own free will and merely has been surprised by someone seeing him mid-transformation..
Incidentally, I think someone else in British Columbia turned themselves into a deer while wearing a high-visibility jacket.. maybe so they wouldn't get hunted while in deer form?
