Oh. My. Dear. Sweet. God. I think this image alone gave me carpal tunnel. But I'm finished. And I like it. So... ha.
Anyway, andren told me on LJ that I needed to redraw an old picture. I ended up picking this one of Karsaga I did back in... 2004-5, I think?
Also, if anyone cares enough to look at the fullsize version of this, here it is. I usually don't do that, but it's kind of hard to see some things I like in the resized version.
Also, in regards to Karsaga's, uh... awkward proportions, they're intentional. Khajiit in Morrowind look a bit leggy, with short bodies and long limbs, so I tried to stay true to that. Also, I always imagined Karsaga as being able to lope on all fours, so I took a cue from "Stranger's Wrath" and made his arms knee-length and his hands huge so it would seem feasible.
He still needs some tweaking, but I'll figure out how to balance those two things out eventually.

Well, even when not snarly, he has terrifying teeth. Dude's got some massive canines. Thanks, Morrowind vampires, for making me addicted to saber-toothed ANYTHING. X_X
And, pretty much the only technique I have is one normal layer with the flat colors, one multiply layer with the shading, and one screen/overlay layer with the highlights. Also, I've pretty much had it beaten into my skull to never use pure gray, black, or white for anything. And, uh, I usually put a multiply layer over everything that is one solid color to make everything look... er, together? Usually not at 100% (it's usually at, like... 8% transparency), but it makes colors that used to clash not clash quite so much.
I AM SO BAD AT EXPLAINING THIS STUFF.

But, uh, what I did here is... just about kill myself, ahahaha. You remember the other night on AIM when I was extremely flustered with art and Karsaga was mentioned? This was it. The whole angry story is on FB, and uh... yeah, reading that you could probably tell how much I wanted to strangle puppies. But, hey! I finished it! I didn't ragequit for once. :D
Also, I think I know the Silverwing cartoon you're talking about. One used to come on TV when I was in high school at, like, five in the morning. I wonder if it's the same one. If so, it's actually not half bad, but I've never read the books, I usually watched it while I was half asleep, and I never watched an entire episode so I'm probably not the best person to ask.

And khajiits are AWESOME. For a while, I only ever played as khajiit or Dunmer, save for one Altmer character. I... have an, uh, orc character now, so at least I'm branching out?

Ahahaha, same here. Except I tend to play it... a lot. Me and mooshay spend an inordinate amount of time telling one another about WEIRD THINGS that happen in the game.

I'm not sure, hahaha. I was just talking to andren about this. I'm one of these types who is SO HAPPY right after I finish something, but the longer I look at it, the more upset I become about glaring flaws. XD;
So I was super excited to get this done, but now I'm listing a bajillion errors to my buddy elsewhere on the Internet, with him yelling, "SHUT UP AND BE PROUD, GOTDAMMIT."
I'll just say it was worth it, because I'll probably go back to liking it soon enough. It is a weird cycle. XD;
And thankee for thinking it is epic. ;-;
