(Note: This takes place after the events of into the nexus)

It had been two weeks since ratchet and clank stop a race of diabolical creatures called the nethers, who were summoned to this dimension thanks to a pair of sibling criminals called the prog twins. However, things took a turn for the worse when it was discovered that the lead nether, Mr eye, used Vendra as a pawn for his master plan and kidnapped her. Her brother neftin forms a truce with ratchet and clank in order to save his sister and the dimension, and soon the Nethers were banished back to their dimension, vendra was saved, and a deal was a deal as neftin turned himself and vendra in to the authorities and head off to jail. But at the same time, the dimensionator, the most secure and well-known device made by lombaxes and was on display at the meridian city museum, was destroyed. Even if ratchet could fix it to find the lombaxes, there was something better for him here for the time being. One of which being Talwyn. But little did he know that clank took the dimensionator with him and was keeping it a secret from his friend for the time being. What was clank gonna do with it? Only time will tell.

For now it was a nice day as the trio arrive at a factory of some sort. This was the HQ of Confection Circuit tech, another weapons and gadget company. But it was a much more unique company than Gadgetron and Grummelnet, Confection Circuit tech was known for majoring in unique weapons and gadgets, a lot that rely on combining them with their own line of candy and sweets. Some products include the pie gun, the bubble gum shield, explosive jawbreakers, licorice whips and more. It was easy to say that confectionery circuit was popular with both adults and children alike, mainly those with a sweet tooth. Today The trio had been invited to a tour of the place to review the latest upcoming gadgets, plus relax after the big event from two weeks ago.

Their tour guide, a scientist named Frank totapolis, was showing them around the place. Going through rooms from quality control, to testing, to recipe research, to baking and manufacturing, to shipping. The next room they arrived in was another testing room where the staff tested out the weapons and gadgets themselves. After a few demonstrations, Frank led the trio to a blue-colored blaster of some kind.

“Now this, this is our latest project.” He said, picking up the weapon. “This is the gumzooka. It shoots projectiles guaranteed to immobilize enemies.”

“What kind of projectiles?” Ratchet asked.

Frank aims at a target, pulls the trigger and shoots. Something shoots out and bounces off the target, ricocheting all over the room before ratchet caught it in his hand. The trio sees that it was a stick of pale blue gum.

“It shoots gum?” Talwyn asked.

“Not just any gum, this gum is a specially made formula.” Frank explained. “It contains a variety of flavors that once chewed, that person will be too distracted to fight back. Next thing you know, boom! They’ll be immobilized! Perfect for making a quick getaway.”

“And how do they get immobilized?” Clank asks.

“Well uh…” Frank tried to explain.

“It’s probably a sticky gum web once they blow a bubble. Still, gum with more than one flavor? You don’t mind if I try it out do you?” Ratchet said as he was about to chew the gum.

“Oh uh, I wouldn’t if I were you.” Frank tried to warn him.

“Don’t worry, I promise not to blow any bubbles so I don’t get stuck.” Ratchet reassured.

“Yes but there’s still some things wrong….” Frank tried to explain only to get interrupted again.

“I think he’s right ratchet, you shouldn’t chew that gum if you don’t know what else it could do.” Talwyn told ratchet.

“Guys, It’s just gum.” Ratchet replied. “I mean what else could happen?”

Frank gives in. “Fine, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” He sighed.

Ratchet pops the gum in his mouth and starts chewing. At first it was a little bland, but what came next was something that made ratchet’s eyes go wide. The flavor hits his tongue, but it wasn’t your usual sweet flavor of any other chewing gum.
