Request: Over the River and Through the Woods
Requested by another YouTube user for Thanksgiving Day, this is my simple duet arrangement of "Over the River and Through the Woods," which was originally written for Thanksgiving. Over time, as it got set to music, the lyrics got changed to referencing Christmas Day instead. The original poem was written by Lydia Maria Child, a novelist, journalist, teacher, and poet who wrote extensively at the time about the need to abolish slavery in the U.S. (Her wish came true when we introduced the 13th Amendment, which abolished it altogether.)
