My mom bought me a travel-water-color kit a while ago... and I was timid about revealing my second [and third and fourth] ever watercolor images... but all in all, I figured why not. It's a learning process, and we all go through it.
I decided to go for some animal portraits.. well, at least one. Do a topic I care a lot about and not have to worry about the design of the content. I'll be going more artsy with these later... have too much on my plate currently. :)

I work and live within First Nations communities... currently, the Local Anishinabe. My mother met with one of my mentors and Medicine Men, and he declared her "Bear People" [they had an extensive talk about her personal history]. It is basically a classification of my mother's position within the community.
My mother named me "Bernice" after a man named "Bernard". "Bernard" Means "Bear Brave"... and "Bernice" was derived from it. It has multiple translations depending on the language- the Gothic/Icelandic/Eastern European translations mean "Victorious Bear" or "Nice Bear" or "The Bear's Neice".
Funny is that they [Anishinabe] adopted me into Wolf People, so I can carry both symbols with me when I work in the community. XD

Well, this is kinda different then the fury fandom... it places you within a context within the community. You have specific responsibilities you have to perform, and you simply cannot say "no". So being asked to go down to a senior's home and help bath someone because it's your "job" means this is a VERY different concept then what furrys have in mind. :)
