tanidareal offered me the honor of doing the t-shirt design for this years EuroFurence17, this August 17-21, in Germany."Kung Fur Hustle" is the theme for this years EuroFurence. So we've got a canine here, in a 'dog boxing' martial arts inspired pose. Cute, yet ready to fight is what I was goin for.
I went through a nice handful of thumbnails and sketches and concepts, and this is what we ended up with.
I think Tani and I agreed to wanting a convention shirt that WAS a convention shirt, but didn't completely look like a convention shirt; I think we liked the idea of a shirt that people can wear anytime and anywhere, even outside of a furry event. So instead of making the shirt scream, "FURRY CONVENTION", we tried for just a good design that works, that just so happens to be a shirt for a furry con.
The fake vertical text on the left says "Kung Fur Hustle" from left to right.
It's subtle, but the scroll is in the shape of the letter "E" and the bamboo is in the shape of an "F", creating the abbreviation for Eurofurence: "EF". Just meant to be a neat little thing in the background.
The kanji characters above the headline "EUROFURENCE" are the symbols for Dog, Cat, Bird, Bear, Dragon, and Fox. I tried to fit as many species as I could, so sorry if I missed yours! ;)
So if you're going to EuroFurence, and if you like the shirt, make sure you pick one up and if you want to show it off, take a pic and send it my way! :) I'd love to see.

Dude, awesome design! And hey, I really DO like the way the scroll and the bamboo make the 'EF.' That's all artistic and shit, so go you.
One thing I will note (and I should say this has nothing to do with you!) is that the "faux Asian font" really messes with your head if you actually speak Japanese, because a lot of the symbols are taken from Japanese and are pronounced nothing like the letters they stand for here. :)

Thanks a lot Riki!
Hahaha, yeah I recognized a few of the symbols, and I knew that people who knew the language would try to read it instead of "read" it. :)
But I figured the majority of people don't know the language well enough to run into that problem like you do, plus I wanted it to be another subtle thing where like from far away, it just looks like random asian text, and if you pay attention to it, you end up reading it and going, "Oh! It says 'Kung Fur Hustle!'"... kind of as subtle as the "EF". :)
thanks!

It doesn't. Most of the symbols are actually just "Asian-looking" gibberish. Only a few them here are actual katakana symbols; the "T" is ナ (na), the "E" is モ (mo), and the "R" is a modified ア (a). Oh, and the "N" looks kiiind of like ウ (u) but deformed. The rest are nothing, though.
Hehehe, I'm in the US too. :) I suppose it's a LITTLE weird, doing the shirt for a con that I'm not attending. :o But it's still cool and an honor.
But hey, I'm doing a con shirt for FURFRIGHT this year, which is a fur con here in the US, in Connecticut! :) *whispers* I've been asked to be the guest of honor too. *wag*

This shirt design even looks better than last years T-Shirt by Blotch.
I really like all the ideas that went into this, especially the focus on making it look like an everyday shirt. This will definitely be a shirt, I'll be wearing outside the furry fandom, just because it looks so awesome.
Really great =)

Hehehe, thanks but it's true. ;3
Well I definitely intend to get one however my current living situation holds ms back. I could get one. But I doubt it would be appreciated and I may have to find a place to stay a while. As in forever, lol!
So basically once I move in with my soul-bro i'm totally getting one!
