Diji's side of things were more road-focused, which, while easier to navigate, were much more crowded. Some tried to take wider routes, or hang back, only to find themselves disqualified, forcing tense, bumper-to-bumper racing on tight, snow-covered dirt roads. The winners of both fields were guarenteed enough Fenrite to get back to the city(as well as employment), while everyone else was forced to fend for themselves. Fenrite stations are few and far between out in the sticks on Túl, with what little is out there only getting scraps often once a month. Ax'L was carrying the tools while Diji was carrying the crystals.
Kinda hard to write Diji's analogue to what Ax'L is up to when they are both driving to the same goal through ever so slightly different manners, but this is where this concept put me HAH. I am SUCH a great writer. Anyway, this is the first Diji focued piece, and the first piece of the story to not include Ax'L! I've got more illustrations with the intent on developing other characters in the pipeline, but for now here's Diji racing on his own. I was initially going to sync up the previous piece and this one together with that tree that is on the far right of Ax'L's illustration, but while blocking out this one, I found a much more dynamic perspective that I couldn't pass up on. Also, it wasn't until I started coloring that I mirrored the whole canvas to make the mountain ranges of both drawings flow together better. Hope it also fits that as you transition from Ax'L to Diji you notice that the time of day is passing. OH and I also attempted to switch to strictly painting organic scenery as opposed to linearting everything, the constructed things, like cars, buildings, machinery, characters etc, that's all to be lined, but for outdoorsy locals, that stuff I'm trying to paint to look more...*waves hands* that.
Hope you enjoy! And thanks for Looking at my work!
