Curt discovered Palmaster's camp a few weeks after Melody settled there, but his businesslike nature allowed the clothing business to expand into a small tailor shop. In turn, he chose a job as a clothing designer and appointed Melody as his assistant. After Melody told him about the bandit raids, Curt talked with Palmaster, who in turn gave him an excellent pistol for self-defense.
