Aleksey and Irene Grey (Concepts)
Let's move forward by moving backward. So...Once Lucius was fleshed out, we had to go into his parentage. I mentioned them briefly in the Lucius post, but I'll just cover them a little more in depth during their 'prime' years. That was during the 1920s-30s equivalent, which I was bummed we skipped over. My DM loves retro future 50s stuff, and I do too, but I've got an even softer spot for the high art deco period. But we may get some one offs in the deco period with these two down the road.
Irene Howell (Later Gray) - First born daughter of Rowan and Dolly Howell. She inherited her mother's talents for singing and buisness, with her father's charisma and charm. The difference being while her mother was great at building a buisness, Irene had a talent for marketing herself. During Prohibition, Irene helped her mother run the family's 'open secret' speakeasy. Irene helped her manage the place, as well as worked as a torch singer for her own enjoyment. She met Aleksey thanks to her mother hiring him on as a part time bar tender, part time getaway driver for riskier liquor pickups, and their relationship didn't blossom until Irene caught Aleksey leaving flowers in her dressing room and realized he was her long standing secret admirer. Irene could tell Aleksey was a good hearted, if shy man thanks to inheriting her father's intuition, and his gifts were some of the only that she'd received from a gentleman caller that were of totally pure intention. Everything else had come from those looking to marry into an esteemed family, or bed an exotic hybrid. So she gave Aleksey a shot. It didn't take long for the pair to wed, and despite difficulties on Aleksey's part, they managed to have two children distanced about a decade apart. Since the ending of Prohibition, Irene has produced a few records, as well as acted in a few radio, tv, and print ads, and as such she's become a bit of a household name. That said, she takes Aleksey pretty much anywhere she has to go, eager to show off with beaming pride the wonderful man she married. She's also a bit of a hit and miss in the kitchen, at least from Lucius' perspective. Her favorite food to make being that of a Jello-Salad....which Lucius despises with a burning passion, but refuses to hurt his mothers feelings by rejecting it.
Aleksey Gray - Aleksey never knew his parents. He was born an orphan, and his life remained very lonely up until becoming tangled up in the Howell family's affairs. A soft hearted little billy goat with an enlarged heart that makes him prone to fainting while certain emotional stimulus made getting by in life fairly difficult. But the plucky goat always managed to pick himself up and push forward despite his unfortunate circumstances. Fate brings him into the Howell family when a liquor exchange goes south that sees Dolly's normal getaway driver wounded in action, and Aleksey essentially plucked off the streets as a newly homeless man to fill the role. Afterward, he's taken on at the Speakeasy as a part-time bartender, part time driver. It is there he meets Irene and becomes immediately smitten with her. He sees her as a goddess given form, and worships the ground she walks on from that moment on. Leaving her gifts in secrecy out of a mixture of shyness and a bit of shame as he feels he's not worthy of such a woman, and becoming her running secret admirer until she catches him in the act, and after forcing a confession out of him, their relationship truly blooms. Quick to wed, quick to bed....although the bedding happened first. In contemporary times Aleksey works as sort of a jack of all trades. A little mechanic, a little janitor, whatever he needs to be at the time as with Irene's income and family wealth he doesn't really have to work outside of personal fulfillment.
These two have a very Morticia and Gomez Adams thing going on, only with Irene regularly trying to reinforce that Aleksey is very worthy of her. They're proud to have each other, and though it seems, to Lucius as though they're laying it on thick, it's genuine. Even when every time his Father calls his Mother "My Goddess', or "My Divine", it's from a place of deep and timeless love. Something Lucius can't understand, and so turns his nose up at.
