This incredible metamorphosis was brought to me by The Master of a Trillion Faces, who wanted this mortal to pay back part of his debt ( 
justink313 's characters). So I was simply a spectator as it unfolded. This description is also largely theirs.
However, here is the information that can be gleaned from it.
Hiveretevs are closely related to bees but are still anthropomorphic creatures, with an appearance reminiscent of certain fairies or pixies, but of a size similar to that of common bees. Unlike common bees, the life span of a member of the hive is longer. Hiveretevs are driven by a hive mind.
This hive mind is very interesting to observe. When a mortal individual is infected, its fluids become honeyed, its muscular tissues rigidify and contract towards the centre of the body, while new openings are created in various places to create a new hive. As well as the body freezing into a hive, the transformation retains certain components that are useful for creating living beings: the hiveretevs. Born from their former bodies, the hiveretevs are endowed with their former mortal consciousness as hive spirits.

You asking physically or mentally? Because as far as mental goes: On the one hand, name, memories, goals, preferences, and demeanor carry over untouched, while on the other hand they develop a stronger sweet tooth and fondness for the smell of flowers, alongside an increased preference for personal space.
It is just a guess, but for the sake of the metamorphosis, we can assume that physically, the body and mind have subdivided into a small colony. Enough to start and keep the hive alive.
To give you an idea a typical bee hive contains a queen, around a hundred drones and between 20,000 and 80,000 workers. Yet, as hiveretev, maybe the intelligence of the specimen can reduce this number.
(I guess at least 1000 hiveretevs but I can't say it for sure as I'm not the one at the origin of this marvelous idea. Thanks again, Justink313 ! ^^)

I'd be pretty miffed if out of every transformation, gender swap, or even apprentice shift. The thing I got was essentially a 7-8 job

oh man, TFing into the hivemind AND the hive that inhabits it is such a unique idea. the imagery is so close to the sort of melty body horror but the fact that the guy just sounds annoyed more than anything from beginning to end adds such a levity to the sequence that makes me love it even more.
Gotta wonder how it would feel if your consciousness was suddenly spread over 10000 bee fae of sorts, which only makes me like the TF even more.
