A bit of backstory: Miles is a journalist who prides himself in getting the big scoop and making sure the truth is revealed. He combines his photography skills to help show the emotions of the story along with ensuring he only states the facts and gives a small section of the story to explain his thoughts on the story. As a kid, his dream was to take pictures of everything around and show people the beautiful out there. His passion comes from his father being a photographer himself who went on nature adventures all the time. Other than his passion for pictures, he loves movies of all types. The idea of making a movie that shows people creative visions and the beauty of what those movies can do and tell always brings him a smile. His personality paints his overall style, being carefree about himself and normally not letting others bring down his mood. Only a few things can actually harm his positive mood, those relating to his love life, career, powers, and family.

He makes some friends while in school, namely Romeo who is a werewolf that Miles enjoys having around. The two get along pretty well despite their differences in interest when they grow up. Both Miles and Romeo respect each other on their goals in life and tend to help each other out with things they enjoy. Miles tends to find out about car events they could check out while Romeo gives him some ideas and stories he hears about around town so Miles can practice being a journalist. The two even go out and take pictures together, seeing what is around them. Other than Romeo, he is friends with Lysander, a crocodile who part of the boxing team at their school. The two spend a lot of time hanging out and checking out abandoned places together. Lysander has always been the one to go head first into things and make sure things are safe for Miles. The two know of each other's gifts, that being Lysander has supernatural strength and able to use elemental armors and punches to his fighting style. It's thanks to people like Lysander and Romeo that Miles is able to feel comfortable about himself.

Miles is a magic user with unique abilities and extremely high magical reserves. Unlike most, he is unable to fully use his magical talents. While he has the power, he needs help to stabilize the magic to keep it from overloading him or going out of control. Due to this problem, Miles generally uses his powers only when he has to and tends to be very careful when choosing to use it. Only able to give a tiny amount of his power to things. However, this would change later when he comes across a way to help stabilize his magic and get help controlling it. Romeo provides Miles with a website that talks about summoning and ways it helps the magic user stabilize their magic. Given the content, Miles looks into how to do the summoning ritual and looks into locations on where to perform the ritual. He decided to wait after graduating high school and take the time for his summer vacation to go through with the ritual. He has Lysander come with him to a cabin he rented out to help him with the ritual.

Thanks to the help of Lysander, they set up the ritual properly and began performing it. However, when Miles attempts to channel a tiny bit of his magic for the summoning, it overflows and causes a surge of magic to knock them back to a wall. Once they got up, they found a feral wolf with six eyes and blue crystals growing on his body. The wolf speaks to them and explains his name is Caesar, a hell beast from the deepest part of Hell. He explains he was summoned here by Miles, a feat which was thought impossible for a hell beast. However, here he is and can speak with Miles. He offers Miles a deal, he wants to be Smiles familiar and in exchange Miles allows him to use some of his power and allow him to walk around the mortal world with him. The offer was reasonable to Miles, but Lysander points out this is a demon after all and could be a trick. To relieve their fears, Caesar offers a deal to ensure he will never harm Miles or his friends as long as they are bound. He goes further to mention that Miles will have access to his powers and allow Miles to be able to read the demon's mind whenever he wishes. An offer that hurts Caesar due to opening his mind to a stranger, but if he wishes to escape his hell this would be the answer. With a smile and promise, Miles accepts Caesar's offer. They finish the ritual which binds the two together and gain power for each other. Miles with a familiar who can help manage his magic, and Caesar with a summoner who can allow him to exist in the mortal world and gain new powers.

After becoming partners, Miles goes through college to become a journalist. Caesar stays around Miles by disguising himself as a typical dog among the public. Miles gets the benefit that Caesar is very knowledgeable about the mortal realm, able to provide Miles with useful tips and insight on a given situation or task. For Caesar, he gets to try things he only dreamed of doing when he was in hell. After getting his degree, Miles lands a job at a city newspaper and news team. By this point, magic is revealed to the world as a whole. Miles offers to do some interesting work involving magic given it's new to the people and it helps promote a healthy relationship through knowledge for the people. Going forward, Miles and Caesar help each other help as he finds big scoops and takes pictures of various things to make a story for the people to read. He still hangs out with his friends like Romeo and Lysander when he can, he finds new friends as well like Jason and his group of friends.
