A swift fox samurai, showing her steel..
This drawing spawned from two concepts I wanted to draw - the wrappings of a katana handle, and tails as hair ("pony tail", except with the chosen species) A fox just happened to fit the Japanese theme.
Media used: Micron pens, acrylic paints, watercolor, marker, and colored pencil (just about everything I have), on bristol board.

Good picture, but the right shoulder (the one facing us) seems to be too low in contrast to the left. It makes the pose look rather awkward not to mention extending the next a little too much at the back. I'm also not sure what's happening with that little finger on the scabbard. Is it supposed to be resting on top of it or actually gripping? I hope the criticism is ok, lol. I am trying to be constructive.
The critique is appreciated, thank you =).
I did have difficulty with the shoulder/neck area - but I think I chose to make the neck more elongated because thats a feature the japanese find very attractive, the nape of the neck...
The scabbard is actually partially tucked under the waist wrappings of her hakama - and she is gripping the cloth around the scabbard with 3 of her fingers, and with her fourth (ring finger) she is touching the scabbard itself, and her thumb is pushing the tsuba, exposing the blade... Or at least, that was my intent. I was having trouble with the way the sword was worn - there weren't many pictures that showed it properly that I could find...
I have been thinking about posting sketches in progress to the Yerf critique board, now that that's back up - but I think with this one I was just feeling impatient and wanted to keep working on it... An extra set of eyes always helps =)
