Ah the Lions Mane. A symbol of the males masculinity, tends to start growing mid puberty and its size can be influenced by some external factors. Factors like is there an older more dominant male in the home can result in the mane not growing in as full as if there wasn't another male in the home. Also it is said that male lions that want to show their submission to another male lion will shave their mane completely as to appear more like the females of the species.
