Draconis Vivusplantae (living plant dragon, plant dragon) is a subspecies of dragon and the only one within the family of Plantae. Stemming from a common ancestor, a symbiotic relationship with their environment led to what is currently the only known instance of a member of Animalia moving over to Plantae, or vice versa. Plant Dragons are a social species of dragon, living in one area as a large close knit tribe of up 100 individuals. Plant Dragon Tribes are typically found spread throughout the Southeast to Southwest of North America, though hardier and well prepared tribes can live all the world like any species, and individuals may decide to scatter across the world.
The Plant Dragon is considered a medium sized dragon, with a long serpentine body covered in grasses that act as fur. The grass is usually thicker on top while the covering on the underside is more mossy. The skin of the animal is the same as plant stems. The bones are a dense but flexible type of a wood, with horns typically poking out the skull akin to tree branches, and claws on four paws. The internal organs of the animal are plant based replicas of the original ancestor's system, with chlorophyll as blood. During the spring and summer seasons, flowers may bloom along the longer grasses of the animal. The flowers wither away during fall and winter, and if the animal is outside it's normal tropical to subtropical environments, the grass may turn tan or strawlike without proper nutrition and temperature regulation.
Plant dragons are an unusually hardy species despite how sensitive their bodies are. While Plant Dragons can be killed, it is the destruction of their brain that keeps them dead, as their plantlike nature means that the right conditions may jumpstart their advanced healing abilities and repair them fully. Excessive trauma to the body in other areas can also render the healing null and permanently kill them. Like the buried dead of the animal kingdom, dead plant dragons
Plant Dragons are both Autotrophs and Omnivores. Under ideal conditions, the animal will consume a self made "soilshake", a mixture of rich soils and water which sits in the digestive system before eventually being passed out. They then often bask to produce more energy to finish the feeding process. The remaining discarded nutrients is passed along as natural gum and gas as excrement and heavily distilled water as urine. They are capable of eating other plantlife and animallife if the animal feels the need to do so, typically when unable to produce food of it's own.
Plant Dragons typically keep to themselves. While some tribes may have ties to a local community and be a source of groceries through a tribe member selling grown goods, the species typically keeps to themselves. Since the Industrial revolution, may tribes were forced to move into more rural areas to avoid pollution affecting their sensitive bodies. Aside from financially, tribes will also accept old textbooks to help keep their offspring relatively up to date about the world and educated.
