Protoceratops is like a mini triceratops from the ancient, Cretaceous Mongolian desert. As with desert animals, it is smaller than most of its relatives to be able to cope with the lack of water and food. A fossil of Protoceratops and Velociraptor fighting was discovered in 1971 with the Proto getting one last chomp out of the raptor while the Velociraptor had one sickle claw slashing its throat.
