At Russel's darkest moments, at the end of his life, he imagines himself maybe having achieved success. If he had just not been so confrontational, if he valued money more, if he had taken things seriously. If he could just stop falling so hard, maybe he could get back up again.

A lot of my drawings will be out of context, but even if I'm posting them out of order, they're done when they needed to be done. Wanted to try drawing him in this desperate state and work on the lighting and weight of being disheveled. Equally wanted to draw him in the most unnatural Victorian pomp that he would be dressed up as. He's naturally against being too uptight, like the men of his time, so even though he dreams of being well off, he's more comfortable in the gutter.
