"Look Dewie! I brought you the best crystals I could find in Bridlewood!"
He looked down at the crystals, smiling from ear to ear. "Woooow! I never thought that I would see something this shiny!"
Hazel giggled, nuzzling against him. Days like this were always her favorite. Hidden away from the world, enjoying each other's company.
"Alright you two, it's time to head back now."
Dewdrop held on tightly to Hazel, looking up at the pegusus with a sad look. "B-But I'm not ready to go yet!"
Hazel looked up at the unicorn that was with them, trying her best to have a puppy dog look on her face. He smiled softly. "We can give them a few more minutes, it's not often we can do this sugar cube."
Hazel and Dewdrop cheered, going off a bit to play together. Before long, they had to depart ways. While sitting on his back, Hazel looked down at the unicorn. "Why must we meet up in secret? I don't understand..."
He weakly looked up at her. "Because pony kind doesn't get along with each other now. With all the fear in the world, it makes it hard to coexist. Now, who wants to get dressed up to meet her friends later this week?"
Hazel perked up, grinning from ear to ear. "Yay!!! I get to see Sunny and Hitch!!!"
Their world was perfect, just the four of them. That was until a virus went through all the cities, leaving death in its wake. Hazel ran away from Bridlewood, helping Dewdrop escape from Zephyr Heights. They tried to hide out in the forest until...
"HAZEL!!! WAKE UP, PLEASE!!!!"
Hazel weakly looked at Dewdrop, seeing his tears go down his face. She winced in pain, feeling a warm liquid go down her face. Dewdrop heard footsteps behind him, only to be picked up quickly. He hit the pony that picked him up, trying to get out of their grip. All he could do was cry out while watching Hazel weakly reach out to him, not liking that he was being taken away from her. Before she passed out, she heard Argyle's voice yell out her name, picking her up. For years, he helped her hide amongst the earth ponies, but the damage was already done. All she could do was learn as much as she could under Argyle, trying to figure out what would be the best course of action to find Dewdrop. When Argyle passed away, she left Maretime Bay to start her search.
Hazel stood outside the wall to Zephyr Heights, using her magic to pull her hood down more. 'You better be here Dewie....' She held the locket that was around her neck for a moment before running into the city, hiding every time she heard footsteps. The city felt different since she was a filly, more of a maze than what she remembered. For a moment, she decided to take a break in the entrance to an alley.
"Hazel?"
Hazel jumped back deeper into the alley, pulling her hood down more to cover her face. She looked back over to the voice, seeing a purple and blue unicorn smiling at her. "It is you! I knew I recognized your sparkle!"
Hazel grabbed her, pulling her behind a dumpster. "Izzy! What are you doing here?! Don't you know what will happen if they catch you here?"
Izzy walked out of hiding. "Relax, pony kind are all friends now!"
Hazel shook her head, being all confused. "When did that happen?"
Izzy walked out to the street. "When magic returned silly! Oh! I have several amazing friends you must meet!" Izzy looked over and waved her hoof in the air. "And there they are!!"
Hazel groaned in annoyance before walking over to her. "Hazel, I would like you to meet Zipp, Pipp-"
Hazel looked at the ponies, only to stare at two of the four. "Sunny? Hitch?"
Sunny and Hitch both smiled. "Hazel?! Where have you been?!"
Izzy looked back at Hazel. "You know them?"
Hazel pulled her hood down again. "Its a long story but I don't have the time for this Izzy! I'm here for business!"
Sunny looked at her sadly. "You still haven't found the pony you are looking for...? Hazel... its been years..."
Hazel took a few steps away from them. "I don't care how long its been Sunny... I have to find him."
Pipp walked over to Hazel. "Maybe we can help? What's his name?"
Hazel examined Pipp for a moment before shaking her head slightly. 'I must be going insane... If only they were here to see this...' She sighed softly. "Dewdrop Symphony. That's who I'm searching for."
Zipp let out a small sound, making Hazel quickly go over to her. "You know him??"
Zipp nodded. "He is one of the guards in the palace but he usually takes today off."
Hazel grabbed her shoulders, having a determined look in her eyes. "Take me to him!!"
Zipp smiled. "Well this just got interesting. Follow me."
Hazel watched Zipp fly off and quickly followed her. Izzy looked at Sunny for a moment. "Huh, I thought that I was your first unicorn friend."
"But....you are Izzy."
The group all met up at the castle, making Zipp quiet everyone. As they listened, they could hear a faint song in the air. Hazel lifted up her cloak a bit, seeing a faint glow on her cutie mark. 'It's him... It's really him!'
Zipp examined Hazel's cutie mark for a moment. "Every year, he spends today locked up in his room, singing the whole day... I never quite understood why."
Hazel took a few steps forward before singing as loud as she could. Once she stopped, she looked up towards the windows to see a pony staring down at them. With a big smile, she ran into the castle as fast as she could.
Zipp quickly followed her in. "What are you doing?! You are going to summon the guards!"
"I don't care!!!" Hazel smiled up at her. "I can't wait a moment longer!!!"
Zipp smiled, watching Hazel jump over the guards that stood in her way, singing from time to time. Before long, they entered the throne room, seeing a blue pegusus trying to regain his breath.
Hazel covered her mouth before removing her hood, tearing up. "Dewie....? Is...that you...?"
He jumped, surprised by the voice. He turned around quickly, only to sit down once he saw her. ".....H-Hazel....?" She nodded, opening up her arms, wanting a hug. Dewdrop teared up, running over to her, hugging her tightly when he was close enough. 'I-I thought you were dead!!!'
'How could I ever leave you? For so long...I have been searching for any trace of you....' Hazel gently rested her forehead against his. 'I am NEVER leaving your side again.'
He weakly chuckled, nuzzling against her. 'I look forward to that.'
They heard a few gasps, making them look up at the group that entered the room.
Sunny and Hitch looked at each other before saying in unison, "When were you a unicorn?!"
Pipp also chimed in, surprised to see Dewdrop out of his room. Zipp quickly silenced Pipp. "So, how do you two know each other? Must be a crazy story for you to be searching for so long."
Hazel looked at Dewdrop's pleading eyes before sighing, giving him the okay. With a happy smile, he ran over to Zipp, pushing her over to Hazel. "Zipp! I would like to introduce you to my sister, Hazel!"
Zipp looked at both of them in shock. "I think you need to tell us the story of how."
Hazel smiled, playfully headbutting Dewdrop. "It's a long story but I think its okay to let ponies know now."
