The Abandoned Facility - mini story in description
Dr Yerka stood outside the doorway of an abandoned science facility. She had to double check the map she had brought with her.
Was this really the right place? But its in the middle of nowhere...
Looking around the facility was surrounded by thick woodland and wildlife. With the trees being so thick that sunlight struggled to get through.
Yerka pocketed the map after folding it back up, and made her way toward the door, it creaked open with little to no resistance from her hoof.
For the facility being abandoned, the lights still worked, say for the odd static flicker. The lights werent very bright as the bulbs were worn down from use, so light didnt shine out as strongly as it should.
Slowly making her way inside, the floor inside was made of solid concrete, and the ceiling seemed to be made of the same material.
As she ventured further down the hallway, she found a loose piece of paper on the ground, picking it up, there was writing on the other side, the writing was frantic and messy, but distinguishable.
It read "Get out, while you still can"
Yerka adjusted the glasses that sat comfortably on her muzzle. She didnt see any immediate danger, and so continued to venture forth into the hallway.
She soon came to a set of doors next to each other, 2 metal signs coated in dust, covered the text that was written on the front. She took the sleeve of her jacket and wiped it off, one read "findings storage" and the other read "staff room"
Looking nito 'information storage' she saw a room with its walls lined with bookshelves and filing cabinmates, as well as a single corpse laying on the ground, with a single bullet hole in its forehead.
Dr Yerka slowly reached out to touch the body, it was cold, long dead before she arrived. The pony was dark green in colour, with a dark blue mane.
A staff member here?
She continued down the hall, writing down her findings in a small notebook she kept in her pocket, going into the staff room. The room was a simple room with a desk in the middle, a mini kitchen on the far side of the room, and a few cushioned chairs. The table had a laptop sitting on top of it, the battery long depleted.
Before Yerka could begin writing down her findings, she looked up... Only to see another staff member there, hanging by a noose around the neck, there was also a large blood stain on the back wall, looking like the blood came from the far corner.
"What the fuck happened here...?"
Yerka whispered to herself, her ears folding back as she exited the staff room, only to see a hallway exactly opposite to the staff room. The light fades into darkness about halfway down.
Soft gargles could be heard from down the hallway, and Yerka's eyes widened.
"Hello?!"
She called out
"Is anyone alive in there?! If you can, let me know!"
But there was no response, say for a few more gargles.
Yerka steeled her nerves and stepped into the hallway, seeing that the walls of the hallway had what looked like display exhibits. With thick windows on the front.
Dr Yerka looked into one of these rooms, only to have something slam into the window in front of her causing the scientist to jolt back in fright.
Inside was a pony... But it shouldnt be alive in its current state..
Its back legs were no longer working, causing it to pull itself along by its front hooves, its eyes looked like they were missing, leaving dark sockets behind, its flesh was rotting away, causing the blue pigment of its fur to get lighter around the open wounds on its body.
The pony's face was unrecognisable, its lower jaw was missing, seemingly fallen off and all of its mane was missing say for a few strands.
The pony slammed itself into the window again, causing blood to splatter along the inside of the glass.
Another slam could be heard from behind her, revealing a 2nd infected pony, in a similar rotting state.
Yerka grew worried as she continued down the hall, to double check for any signs of ACTUAL life... these things werent alive... but she didnt know WHAT they were now...
She had a job to do... And she had to get it done sooner rather than later...
