Heavy and Frail --- Tillamook De'Glace Concept Page
----In an instant, the empty, gray void that Tillamook found herself in was ripped away. For the first time in years, she opened her eyes, though if its been decades or centuries since she was last able to, she didn't know. As the colors around her became clearer in her vision, the figure of an older man came into view, his visage a frightful expression.
"Yuh . . . you're alive?" the man weakly croaked out, shrinking behind the exaggerated length of his brimmed hat. "I, uh, I, uh . . . statue!"
Tillamook tilted her neck from confusion, leading to a ringing, sharp pain from stiffness. She tried to speak out to calm that frightened wizard, but her throat only gargled, causing the wizard to cower back further. Looking around, she noticed rays of warm sunlight and the sound of birdsong --- she was outside, in a place she thought she remembered from a dream. Seeing a pond only a few steps away, she rose her arm to the wizard to signal to wait, as she unsteadily walked to the edge of the waterway.
She reached her arm over the riverbank, noting that her arm looked a bit sickly, though felt the gaze of the wizard constantly upon her. Tillamook shot him a cold leer, leading him to once again tuck himself beneath his wizardly hat, but as her attention returned to her need of water, she froze. The reflection that bored back at her was not her own! Her mind was hazy from her awakening, but the orb-like eyes, sharp fangs, and stone muzzled face were not part of her. She recoiled in fear, just like the wizard behind her. Tillamook quickly tried to become aware of her surroundings, to trace where the gargoyle was, but as she noticed that only she and the wizard were in the clearing, a deep, dark pit crashed into her heart.
She looked back into the reflective surface of the calm water and cringed as the gargoyle's silly expression gazed back and mirrored her movements. This was her, but Tillamook was more frightened on what didn't stare back at her. She tried thinking, but she couldn't remember what her original appearance was. She collapsed on the grass as she pushed her broken, stony hand across the water, shattered memories slowly coming back as she drank water, her voice also returning as the cold drink brushed her mouth.
---- A new character I made for a one-shot, with a tiny bit of lore for her. I find Warforged really cool in D&D, but never get a chance to really see them in play. Also a fan of gargoyles, so I ended up mixing the two. Tillamook was in a food themed setting, hence the name, but I'm hoping to see her again and flesh out her backstory. Currently, the basic idea is that she was turned to stone by a Medusa creature that she was originally friends with and over her time imprisoned in petrification, unknown wizards and druids tried to change the statue, since they thought it was incomplete. As such they would use spells like Stone Shape, until they noticed blood coming from the statue, constantly warping Tillamook until she became a creature. Bitter and afraid of the world, she ended up becoming a nun in a god-banished world, working a soup kitchen for less fortunate souls.
