My apologies for not having anything to post yesterday, I've been putting something out nearly everyday for close to a month now so it was getting a bit exhausting to keep that pace up (plus I kinda ran out of ideas).
Anyway I've decided to move on from just doing dedicated shading practice, for the next week or so I'm going to shift focus to drawing anthro head's since that's an area I'm particularly weak in. I'll still keep up the shading practice, just instead of full bodyshots I'll be doing it on the headshots I work on.
Now for this piece. This piece was pretty fun to work on, it started out as an idea to try and make myself a new profile pic for Blusky and Twitter but eventually shifted to "I need to practice heads so what if I do that for a bit then make a new pfp" and thats where I started. After that I decided I wanted to keep the shading practice going to I decided once the full head was down to put some real harsh lighting on the character coming from the right side of the screen and in the background, so the side of her facing the viewer would be in shadow with some highlighting on the edges. It did take awhile to get the all over shading on her face right but after I did it felt worth it. In total there's 3 shade tones and 1 highlight tone, I might try boosting that to 2 highlight tones in the next piece to really push and make pop those brighter areas. Overally the shading is ok in this piece but AI definitely messed it up on the face and couldn't give the detail I wanted to so next time I'll have to be more careful. Also the hair once again feels a bit lacking, while its improving I feel I can really do better then what I actually managed to do. There's also some area's that I'm not sure worked out like I tried to push the idea of some inner ear fluff but didn't use any lines just pure shade and highlights and its iffy I feel. Overally though I feel like this was a good start and I can't wait to push myself further and see just how I can improve.
Thanks for viewing my art
