I assume that you don't want the entire list of things that you where doing that was unsafe that I assume that you did not even know about. At lest someone had the brains to protect yours. Who ever put you up on him should be horse whipped for putting you in such a unsafe situation.
No matter the age or temperament of a horse it can panic and hurt the rider. My late horse Butterscotch could have been describe as a kids horse. If I was not wearing my helmet I would have been killed 15 years ago because all of a sudden he stopped and I went flying head first onto a rock.
