red wattlebird, 2nd largest honeyeater in australia. they’re named after the two fleshy wattles on the sides of their necks
they have an unusually long tongue to feed on nectar. & they aggressively defend their food sources from other honeyeaters, mean bastards they are lol

very nostalgic for me, every time I hear one I go looking up at the gumtrees to find ‘em :)
