Just to remind folks, I will do random gaming streams nightly although that isn't really something scheduled and I reserve the right to stop or take a few days/weeks off from it if I feel like it. My livestream schedule is 7PM EST on Wednesdays, 8PM EST on Fridays, and sometimes I will do a stream Saturday afternoon or evening at an unscheduled time. I did an art stream on Monday but that was a holiday and I was bored. But if you want to catch an art stream, they're Wednesday, Friday, and sometimes Saturday.
Now, onto the cards...
First is Three pulling some drapes aside to look at the sunrise. the way she's glancing over her shoulder makes me think that she knows she's caught someone's eye. My inner setting voice tells me that she's stayed the night or moved in with Barius, and what we're seeing is his view. There's an artist I really like who colored an artcard firstly in a solod light tan and then built up the color on top of that, and this was my second attempt at imitating that trick. I built up the shading and color to sort of make it look like the room behind her was dark, but there was light coming through the window. Not a total success but I like it better than the previous one. This card has sold (before I finished penciling it even!)
Next is a card of my hippogryph character Zoltan that I did for
Jace who graced my stream with his presence. It was wonderful having you around last night, hon. Anywho, Jace has always loved Zoltan so I thought I'd share an image.
Below that is a two card spread commissioned by
Usaden. I've been playing with smudgy shading and cool light and since he wanted a sort of romantic dinner setting I thought I'd put him and his lioness friend enjoying a balcony meal overlooking a pyramid (since the lioness is Egyptian).
Lately I've been trying to put some focus on light sources and shading on these cards as I've found myself getting annoyed at images where it isn't considered much. Light and shadow and color can make for great mood tools and can be used to make an image a lot more three dimensional, and I hope that these cards show that somewhat. I also used to do these cards in colored pencil and marker, but lately to help me speed things up I've been using strictly marker.
I learn something new with every card, and I'm really grateful that FA and my viewers have made the time investment in these things worth it.
All the cards are done on 2.5 x 3.5 inch illustration board, inked in sepia, colored in copic, and touched up with gelpen.
