Proper Office Etiquette
And The Techniques Required To Succeed
All work weeks begin with the ever-dreaded Monday, but good workers will brave the boredom and despair in order to succeed.
Good workers make sure to arrive early so as to make sure that they clock in on time. Great workers clock in early, allowing for extra time and ensuring that no minute in the day is wasted.
Smart workers make sure that their time-punch card is clearly marked with the correct clock-in time. Any inaccuracies must be reported to the supervising officer and clock technician. A broken clock will only be correct twice per day, after all.
Upon arrival at the desk, good workers check their IN trays for any overnight paperwork that must be done or early morning memos to address. Once the overnight paperwork is sorted and filed properly, a good worker can properly begin their shift.
Each office is unique and the work itself may vary from position to position.
Management staff must always remain aware of orders from higher up the chain of command and accurately pass that information onto the grunt workers who are the backbone of many businesses.
In addition to this good management will find ways to keep morale up and production steady and smooth. Bad management will actively ignore commands and facilitate aggressive, hostile work environments.
In such occasions, workers from Human Resources step in to clean up the mess when possible.
However, should an office be running smoothly or not, the work must still get done. Offices with more money have begun to invest in electrical typewriters, allowing for speedy, legible writing. While many workers still prefer to write out and perform paperwork by hand, research has suggested that type-written documents are more quickly read and sorted than handwritten work.
As more offices make the transition to the electric typewriter, mechanical typewriters are beginning to fall out of fashion. Though no less used, the convenience of electrical technology has overshadowed the antiquated mechanical typewriters of yesteryear.
Regardless of the tool, good workers will always get the job done.
While speed and accuracy are always desirable in workers, the smartest workers will remember to take breaks to hydrate and socialize with the rest of the office. After all, an office environment without camaraderie is an office without a soul.
During times of stress, it is encouraged to take breaks to smoke and unwind briefly. Overstressed workers are more likely to make mistakes than their level-headed peers.
Above all else, it is most important that good workers provide efficient, quality work for their employers. Great workers prove their worth regularly to earn a raise or promotion.
A worker with quality and resilience will always be proven to succeed.
