I love Ciara's expression in this picture, too. Poor kid. She's not really hurt, of course, it's just a scrape like all kids get sometimes. But you know what kids are like when Mama comes to see what happened. That's when they turn on the waterworks full force! This is easily one of my favorite picture of Deirdre, too, second only to the one Luthien did of her embracing Ciara so many years later. Deirdre really does love her daughter, even if she isn't always wonderful at expressing it, and it's Ciara who brings out the best in Deirdre every time.
I like the sandals, too, and a lot of my characters are supposed to wear them. Deirdre is supposed to always wear them, when she wears anything at all, and Ciara is supposed to wear them a lot more often than she does. I kind of like the way they look on furry characters, and they're kind of a nice compromise between the usual barefoot look that most furry characters have and giving them some kind of protection for their feet.
