I decided to take another break from Monster Month to finish another month pic for my Year of the Dragon project, and for spooky month I decided to draw a dragon that was likely very scary to first see as a kid- Maleficent in her dragon form from Sleeping Beauty. What can be said about Maleficent that hasn't been said before? She's one of the greatest villains in not just Disney's rogue gallery, but in general, being so wicked that she would curse an infant just because she wasn't invited to a ceremony, initially dooming the child to die when she turns 16, though thankfully the pure magic of one of the good fairies- Merryweather managed to change Aurora's curse from dying after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel, to being put in an eternal sleep until she is kissed by her true love. She's a classic villain from a classic fairy tale, and she isn't just relegated to her own story, more often than naught she also plays a big role during big disney crossover projects as well, such as Kingdom Hearts. I have a number of villain characters that are near and dear to me, but when it comes to villainesses, Maleficent is one who commands respect with her dominion over the powers of hell.
