Sev & Nala are a special case in the Protogen world. Not many protogens are made with multiple heads, let alone a sentient tail. As they are effectively 2 persons sharing a body, very little is known about how it really works. Sev & Nala can "swap" heads to let each other take control of the main body and the tail. They do not know how it works either. They described it as if mentally they are taking an elevator or escalator up/down to the other's head and just take control. According to them, while in control of 2 different areas in the body, they can still see and hear what the other head is taking in.

Sev & Nala change how they behave depending on who is in control of the main body. Sev is more laid back and calm, always assessing the situation and easy going. Nala, while more deft and dexterous than Sev, tends still be erratic and will home in on whatever catches their eye. When Sev is the tail, they act as a look out. Always scanning and watching out for Nala. When Nala is the tail, they always are interested in what Sev is doing and hovers over their shoulder. Occasionally will pester people for pets and rubs when waiting for long periods of time.

Scans have shown that both heads do indeed share the same stomach and digestive system. But the tail has a couple of caveats that make it special. Due to the length of the tail and how far something ingest has to go, the tail has a special section for holding food for later while the main body is eating. This can be used to wait for the main body to finish eating and then send more food to the stomach. Or it can be used as storage with food being held and then used when they get hungry later. It has been noted that they will use this special storage not only for food for themselves, but to carry additional items, as long as those items aren't affected by the juices inside or are properly wrapped and packaged. They have said that they share the senses both heads experience at the same time.
