# Daniel Robitaille "Candyman" - Candyman

This year's Halloween Countdown was hard. Harder then I care to admit. One of the reasons for it's difficulty was the entire theme of mini-countdowns in one. Sometimes figuring who went where was a problem. Case in point for Candyman; a character I definitely wanted to add, but I found it hard to define him. I know most would view him as a slasher but I don't, or at the very least he is much more than that to me.

Given what Candyman represents I feel it's undermines the significance of the story to simply put him as nothing more than a slasher. The heavier themes of Candyman really lends itself to it's own genre I feel. Even down to how I drew him, while I obviously made him in homage to Tony Todd I deliberately covered his face, conveying that 'Candyman' could be anyone. Hell, I almost feel I'm not equipped to handle something like Candyman, I'm just some smut artist... but hey at the end of the day it's still a good movie with a great meaning and antagonist, so I had to add him.
