I made my cousin a Sgian Dubh (translates literally as "black knife", which some people associate with the traditional handle material being bog oak, though most people agree the actual translation is more along the lines of "hidden knife", as it was the only weapon kept on your person when you were a guest in someone's home in medieval Scotland) for his 30th birthday. His wife told me he uses it for everything and he's never without it, which makes me really happy!
Handle is bog oak (as is traditional) and blade 15n20 (a high carbon nickle steel that resists corrosion pretty well)
