Photographed from the same mainline train, Tywyn Wharf station is the HQ of the Talyllyn Railway - the first railway in the world to be run by a preservation society. And yes, it really was a wharf, as the Talyllyn trains would transfer slate which, had been carried from the hills to the waiting train on the Cambrian Railway's (later the Great Western Railway) exchange sidings.
