The small yet extremely pregnant fox girl slowly waddled into the hospital, accompanied by her boyfriend, each step of her tiny, bare feetpaws letting her feel the crushingly heavy weight she was carrying, hanging from her middle. She wasn't wearing her usual hibiscus flower on her head, or her usual pink collar around her neck, or any eyeliner, nothing like that. She'd had no time to put any of it on.
As she kept on waddling slowly, she could feel her spine, her hips, and the bones in her legs stressed to the absolute maximum, feeling like any additional weight, even a tiny bit, would send her crashing to the ground. Worst of all, she was in labor, already feeling painful contractions, already so strong they made her cry with each successive one. Her breasts seemed to know her three pups were almost here, so they had filled themselves heavily with milk, adding even more pounds of extra weight to her struggles, each of her steps unsettling them and making balance even more difficult.
The pelt on her abdomen felt like it was at maximum stretch, tensed to its very limits, each random kick and poke producing a sensation of concentrated pinpoint stress which made her press her little hands on them to make them more bearable. In her own opinion, she felt like her womb's ultimate goal was to turn her into a sphere, with arms and legs. She was going to be a mother for the very first time, and childbirth was still something that terrified her. Especially since she was going to pop out not one, but three babies, at present crammed tightly in her womb with not much space between them, which kept them especially active, constantly fighting for space.
As she waddled, she needed to find a place to sit down, fast. As she was helped to sit down on a bench, she had to sit at an angle, as she had to spread her legs quite wide to make space for her huge belly. She now had to wait for a nurse or doctor to become available and take her to the maternity ward to give birth, but as this precarious government hospital somewhere in the world was severely understaffed, she had to wait a long time, even in emergencies. Her pain was getting worse and worse with each contraction.
Fortunately, her boyfriend and father of her pups was right there with her, trying to comfort her. She looked up at him and said, "I swear if they don't let me in soon I'm going to start screaming right here!!", she told him as she cried, her eyes closed hard and full of tears of pain. Her pups moved inside her womb just like they would any other day, not knowing what was going on or what their young mother was going through. She thought it would be nice if they would have some manners for their own mom in this moment, though she of course knew that was too much to ask of them. To them, her womb was just an annoying barrier that kept them in an uncomfortable position, and which was to be constantly fought. But she loved them, and she knew that this was part of the many sacrifices a mom has to make for her children.
