The wizard, disguised as a simple old possum peddler, smiled as he was escorted into Queen Jasiri’s throne room. The fools! All he’d had to do was flash around some shiny gemstones and say he wanted to give a gift to the queen and they’d let him in!
He entered the throne room and bowed low before the queen, sneaking a peak at her under the floppy brim of his hat.
She was wearing an off-shoulder dress today, one that showed a lot of the curve of her breasts. The queen sat impatiently, one leg crossed over another under her skirt, and glared at the wizard, expecting this to be a waste of her time. Despite her bad attitude, she was a beautiful woman. Some would say one of the most beautiful in the world.
In short, a worthy prize for such a skilled wizard as he!
“Your highness, esteemed members of the court, and the skeptical short, green woman… I am but a simple peddler. But in my travels, I have found treasures and fancies fit for a queen’s eye. Behold, a pendant that gleams like sunset on the ocean!”
The wizard held the pendant loosely from its chain and let it sway, catching the eye of everyone in the court as it sparkled.
“Does it not entrance and fascinate? Look closely at the pendant… fix your eyes on it… watch only it as it swings back and forth… back and forth… you are under my sway...”
The wizard kept the pendant swaying, making sure he had everyone’s rapt attention, and then watching as they slipped into a trance. Their eyes had become swirling spirals, the well known sign of a person that was very hypnotized.
“Sleep,” he commanded the court. They had no part in his designs. They were mere extras in this drama of the Wizard and the Queen.
Queen Jasiri continued to stare at the pendant, her harsh expression slackened into an unflattering expression. Although, one preferable to the harsh glare she subjected him to earlier. But he could arrange something more to his liking.
“Smile,” he commanded the queen. He was sure that none dared to order her around thus but under his sway, the queen’s mouth stretched in a forced, strained smile. Perfect.
“Now, your highness, you are mine. I will take you away from this dreary castle, to my wizard tower. A wonderful wizard deserves a beautiful piece of arm candy! I’m sure it will be an adjustment, going from queen of a kingdom to a trophy wife but with this pendant… With this… I just had it in my hand… Where did that blasted thing go?
“Neat,” said Princess Atiena, holding the pendant between thumb and forefinger. “Is this what you hypnotized my mom with?”
“Hypnotized?” asked the wizard, sweating a little. He didn’t think well on his feet. “She looks perfectly normal and happy to me! I swear, she was hypnotized when I got here!”
“You seem nervous. Is it because I have your thing?” asked Atiena, letting the pendant dangle so she could start swinging it back and forth. “Surely, this is a magical doodad that not anyone could use.”
“Yes… Yes! If that were a ‘magical doodad’ as you put it, it is beyond your capacity to use!” said the wizard, confidence building again.
“Then again… I have been studying,” said the young lioness thoughtfully as the wizard stared entranced at his own geegaw. “Now… what shall be made of you?”
--
“Daughter, what ARE you doing?” demanded Queen Jasiri, hands on her hips.
“Reorganizing the portrait gallery to be more saucy,” Atiena said. “Well, supervising, to be more accurate.”
And truly, Atiena was sitting on her royal derriere, sipping a cool drink, and watching a possum maid and some burly, shirtless workers remove paintings to replace with sexier art.
“I don’t believe I approved this,” Jasiri complained.
“Don’t you remember?” asked Atiena. “We had a long talk and you agreed that whatever I liked would be fine.”
“I… do remember that,” the queen said, although the memory was hazy despite it being early that very day. “Hmph. I should say I can’t believe I approved this.”
“I was surprised too!” Princess Atiena smiled. “You were in such an accommodating mood!”
Queen Jasiri frowned. Something was wrong about this situation.
“When did you get a new maid?” she asked her daughter.
“Oh, he came to the castle to make some mischief but I maid her rethink her life.”
“Sometimes, I feel as if I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” said the queen. Stopping Atiena from reorganizing the portrait gallery seemed a lost cause so Queen Jasiri moved on with her day.
---
It seemed like a normal present day Jasiri hijinx but it was actually in the future times with Princess Atiena.
A fun gift sketch!
I wanted to let this dumb wizard get away with it for just a little. But the tags on the original post compelled me to do a story where the perpetrator gets caught mid-perpetrating.
So Atiena stuck her head into the sinister scheme and found a free prize. Two free prizes! What a nice day for Atiena and a confusing day for Jasiri.
