So, it's been a while since I last posted any art on this site.
Recap for those who haven't know, back in November 2022, my computer, well more accurately the family computer finally broke.
"Finally?" You may ask. Well, my computer has a tendency to randomly shut down and restart. This happened a lot before with previous laptops. Either they were overheating or the charger just doesn't work like it to.
As for my current computer, it just won't turn on anymore. Well, it sorta can but the screen just doesn't get pass the logo of the brand it's made from and often has that "blue screen of death" thingy but black. My dad tried to fix it but it just wouldn't worked anymore.
Without a computer, I could not make any digital art so I decided to put myself in indefinite hiatus.
The period after that was terrible. I was in a state of depression where I just could not get myself to draw because "what's the point of making art when no one's gonna see them." I instead spend most of my days laying down on my bed scrolling through my phone. Any topic relating to art triggers an anxiety that I avoid by distracting myself. So, it was a deep bummer.
However, some friends I have in told me a popular fursuiter was visiting our town and that they suggest that I should draw something for him. And so I did. Obviously, I did it in traditional art and eventually gave it to the fursuiter as a gift. He liked it and that experience lightened my mood.
At that point, I started to get myself to draw again. And draw I did, for two and a half years.
"But FG" I see you thinking. "If you were making art all this time then why haven't you been posting?" Well, here are the reasons why:
1. They're technically unfinished. These pieces are meant to be colored, have backgrounds and lack context especially with some pieces that are I intend on making into animatic style comics.
2. Traditional art doesn't get as much traction as digital art. Now, there's nothing wrong with posting only traditional art when you don't have access to a digital canvas or skillful enough to work on more advanced art programs. This is mostly a me thing as I'm hella insecure about my work not being "good enough". I keep hearing that my work is fine while simultaneously hearing others saying they be better if they were colored, so that's why.
3. Most of my work is centered on original characters. And any work that's centered on OC's tend to be less looked on than works that are fanart. Unless you have your own small fanbase that are already familiar with your characters, most viewers tend to just not engage with content they are not familiar with. And yes, there will be those few people who are interested in getting to know your OC's and we appreciate them for being there.
Now, the major reason why I could not post my art back then and now is that I have drew a lot. I pretty much drew daily and that's a period of two and a half years. I could not just post any of my recent work because some of them are in a chronological order. Context would obviously be missing, it's kind of like watching a serialized show at a random order.
Not helped that some of these pieces, especially the older ones are out of date. Two and a half years is a long period and my style has since changed and that certain characters I have evolved from a being sona for a specific fandom to being their own character.
Once I get back to being able to draw digitally and upload again, I'll be working on my art from the oldest to the latest. And these are a lot of pieces that I worked on and that's on me for being stubborn about thinking my works are incomplete. But I'm perfectly contempt about it as I have a ton of freetime.
In the meantime, I'm saving money to buy my own personal laptop. A computer would be better but that would mean sharing it, and also it's very costly.
Nowadays, I tend to just come of on an idea to draw as a means of distraction because that anxiety about not being able to post anything and missing out on some of my friends' work is still there, but not as severe as it was back then.
So, yeah. This is to update about my current whereabouts. I'm am not officially back to posting art like what people wrote in the comments in my journals updating my status. I have been here this whole time, just not active like posting art. I mostly post my current traditional artworks on personal sites on other sites, mainly as a relief about not being able to share them.
Anyway, I'll see you all next time. Peace out.
