Fictober 2024 21: I saw your eyes light up
Felicia smiled as she snuggled up against Austin, rubbing his chest with her hand, playfully dragging her nails over his t-shirt. The two of them were snuggling in bed, trading a little playful slap and tickle. She reached out to grip the sheets, tugging them up off of the two of them.
He smiled up at her, gazing into her pale blue eyes as she slowly slipped a leg over his waist, then straddled his body, humming softly as she slipped her hands up under his shirt. She leaned down to kiss him as she tugged playfully at his chest hair.
He returned the kiss, rubbing the back of her neck with one hand, the other beneath the pillow under his head. He smiled at her as she slowly kissed along his jawline, nuzzling his hair before planting a kiss down the side of his neck.
She paused, slowly opening her mouth, a soft cracking noise coming from her teeth as sharp, slender fangs slid into position. Her head darted down towards the flesh of his throat.
Then her head was being yanked back hard by her hair. She let out a shriek, fangs bared as his other hand slid out from under the pillow, shoving a crucifix in her face that glowed with a brilliant white light. She hissed and threw herself back off of the bed, cowering against the wall with her hands in front of her face.
There was so much fear and hatred in her voice as she cried out, “How?! How could you know?”
Austin just smiled at her as he slid off of the bed, keeping the crucifix between them. “Well, I had my suspicions for a while now. At first, I thought you might just be cheating on me, staying out all hours of the night with barely even a text or a call. Then you would drag yourself home and collapse in bed, sleeping all day.”
“Then, I realized it must be something more. The way you started just vanishing for days at a time, almost never coming home. Then suddenly tonight, here you are, looking exhausted, half starved. I bring you in, clean you up, and you try to pick back up right where we left off. Just like nothing happened. Almost desperate to get me in bed for some reason.”
She bit her bottom lip, looking guilty and surprised at the same time, “That still sounds like suspicion of cheating, though.”
“When we were getting ready for bed and I cut myself shaving, I turned towards you as I grabbed a piece of toilet paper. I saw you shaking as you stared at it. I saw your eyes light up.”
The vampire nibbled at her lower lip, one of her fangs accidentally piercing the skin. She shivered as she looked up at him, trying to shield her eyes from the holy symbol. “Wh.. what now? What does this mean for us?”
“Just one thing…” Austin gave her a gentle smile as he slowly moved towards the bedroom door. He leaned with his back against the door as he kept the holy symbol between the two of them.
“I formally revoke my invitation…”
Felicia’s face contorted in rage as she got up from the floor like a puppet being dragged on strings. She almost floated backwards to the apartment window. “Austin, you son of a bitch!”
There was a smash of breaking glass as the vampire was hurled backwards through the window and into the chill night air, cursing him the entire way.
