For the past eight years, I have been using a first-generation G5 Mac tower. Straight from the box it came with a video card that was capable of outputting to a dual-monitor desktop. All this time I had dreamed of extending my workspace beyond the 20" Apple cinema that came with the system.
Today, that dream came true. I added a beautiful 23" 1080p LED screen with HDMI inputs. Not only can I run a dual-screen setup, but I can also hook up my XBox 360 to the monitor as well if I'm feeling particularly eccentric.
I almost don't know what to do with myself now that it's finally together. I just know that I'll now be able to produce a hell of a lot more work, a hell of a lot faster.

Thanks! It definitely is. I've been a back-and-forth Mac/PC user pretty much all my life (had a DOS system as a kid, later on got a PowerMac, then a Win98 PC, and now MacOS X for the past decade). I love the Mac system for art and music, but I still get PC time since that's what I have to use at work.
Outside of the computer, there are just enough distractions to keep me from getting bored, haha. I swap out the decor as time goes on (statues and whatnot). I even have three crates of old Bionicles from years past that I rotate through when I get tired of seeing the ones I have out.

Yeah, I only use computers for Photoshop, internet, and music. If I want to play games, I have a 360/PS3/etc. for that. Though I think you could tell that I'm not concerned with performance simply from the fact that I'm still adding components onto a computer that is almost a decade old, haha.
As long as it does what I need, I'm happy. The plus side is that compatible components for an older computer are much cheaper than the most cutting-edge stuff.

Oh, I'm not doubting it. I had friends all through college that built their own rigs for a lot cheaper than if you got a pre-built model (or a Mac, for that matter). I'm not debating price.
I just like the fact that I'll probably still get a few more years of life out of this Mac before I really feel the pressure to upgrade to a new tower. To get that much time out of a single computer is pretty unheard of in a technology fraught with obsolescence.

Yeah, i gotta upgrade my second monitor at some point...
I have a 42" 1080p LCD HDTV as my primary monitor, but my secondary monitor is a 17" widescreen lcd monitor... kind of lame in comparison
I'm looking into the possibility of a 15 monitor video wall solution to get 3 monitors tall by 5 monitors wide at 22" each. If i can afford it then i will have the ultimate monitor solution =Q_
