I could see them from a distance already, way before I actually passed of them. The first were small, almost like red pillows lying on the ground, but those ahead were titanic. It made me wonder, were the trees on the outskirts just remaining small because the living conditions weren't suitable for growing larger, or was the forest spreading? Once among the larger trees, I couldn't tell much of a difference in the vegetation in between and that directly outside, as the trees were widely-spaced and their crowns barely spread past their trunks' absurdly large circumferences. What I did notice however, was the chatter of unseen creatures in their crowns and the change in smell. I never saw any of the tree inhabitants, I could only tell they were active day and night, although the pitch and volume of their chatter changed between day and night. The smell wasn't theirs, as came from the trees' leaves and was hard to describe; certainly not unpleasant, but still slightly nauseating.
Fourth bit of the landscape drawings done in a stream, this one was the final. However, there are more scans in the process of being coloured, with even more uncoloured ones waiting for their turn.
