It's been a while since I gave
kandifurgirl an update on her hat. Rest assured, it's VERY close to being finished!
Using arpad's head as a model and it is not even close to the same dimensions as the commissioner's head, so it doesn't look quite right.
However, keep in mind that the green section isn't even halfway finished and it is still awaiting a brim. :]
The sheer size of the hat coupled with the weight and the dimensions makes it so it is not quite as rigid as I wanted it to be. I'm trying to think of a way to fix that, but I don't know if it's even possible. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. :]

Is it wool yarn? If it's wool yarn you can felt it ever so slightly and block it, and that will help it be more rigid. If it's acrylic...it's kind of terrifying to do, but you can take a hot iron and run it over the yarn- don't actually touch the yarn with the iron, but kind of skim as close to the surface as you can- and that will melt the fibers a little bit, and you can block it like you normally would and it will hold a shape better.
