Trevor was an outlaw, rough and stern. But that morning, as the sunrise spread across the valley, he was up in the fields picking wildflowers. He was searching for the perfectly imperfect ones hiding among the rolling hills. As the smell of the morning fire from camp crossed his nose, he knew it was time to head back.
As he approached the fire, he saw her. Kayme looked tired from the journey; she was emotionally drained from stress, and her body language showed it as she sat lost by the morning embers. Trevor hid the flowers behind him as he approached her.
"Mornin. Feelin better?" he asked. He already knew the answer but asked anyway.
"I... I am ok... Just tired," she replied, looking up to him with a soft smile.
"We are going to be ok. Look how much we have accomplished already."
With those reassuring words, Trevor held up the flowers to her, his loving grin showing through. Her eyes lit up as she stood, her gaze taking in their beauty before turning to him.
"Thank you. I knew this life wouldn't be easy, but I am so happy to be living it with you."
She wrapped her arm around him, pulling him close. He held her back as his stern posture faded into a loving embrace. He could feel her stress melt away in that moment as the sun's warmth greeted them to that new day.
"We got this..." he whispered to her softly.
