A huge Feral Zinogre is sleeping beside loads of Tokies and a Mystery Charm! Hopefully this time we can get away with the treasure without getting into trouble! ... Wait maybe we should rethink our strategy..?
lol hey everyone! ^vv^/
A lot of stuff happened this week, so I apologize in advance for the wall of text!
Progress ^vv^
First of all, progress report! I finished the encoding and decoding scripts for Subquests' codes, so those look great! They're 13 characters long and contain all the data needed for a quest, including fancy stuff like a checksum! Delicious computer science goodies... >vv< I can't really show the encoding stuff, even if I am proud of it though, or else it would give away its secrets and it would be much easier to cheat with it lol! But while I was working on the encoding scripts for the player team, I ran into a BUNCH of problems XvvX from little bugs like the chapter playing badges not saving to animations being completely off... while it was a slog, Zeo and I hung out and not only fixed all that but more! ^vv^
Working together, we rewrote the movement animation script a little and I'm proud to say it should be frame independant completely now! You move from tile to tile just as fast on 5 fps as you do 1000! (Results may vary based on how fast npcs can think of course lol) ^vv^
If you weren't here for its origins, playing the game even at 200 fps in the demo was... uhh... bad >vv< After some tweaks it worked pretty well but still played slow at 60. (Truth be told, unless you have a really old computer, it wouldn't run that low FPS unless you were using a third party tool to force its fps, but still!) Well, even though it might be a little choppy at low fps still, it now plays pretty fast, and I'm really proud of that ^vv^ I hope you can check that out in Chapter 2 if you felt the slowness of low fps before! .......Also we rewrote the dungeon saving code because I realized I was saving 11-12 megabytes of data in your save files if you saved in a dungeon... yeah, that's around a monster hunter world save file, I wish I was kidding! >vv< My apologies about that lol, now that I know more about bits and stuff, I cut it down to about 5-6 megabytes and I'll try to continue keeping that count as low as I realistically can... I'll be safer when it comes to data I save from here on out- I was kinda dumb! >vv< ^vv^
Bluesky
Anyway, final thoughts are about twitter/x -- I heard they were putting some sketchy AI stuff in the terms of service... and while I don't usually listen to people who spread around information on twitter since most of it is either taken out of context or just... not true, I decided to look into it myself and well, yeah the terms and service is pretty much the same as sites like Bluesky. However, this new tweak coming November 15th is going to allow data in posts, even attachments, to be used to machine learning from what I understood. -vv- ... So unfortunately unless an opt-out is added or it's removed, I'll be removing my art from that site. I'm sure a lot of you understand and I really appreciate that >vv< So while you reading this on FA don't have to worry, if you were following me on twitter and want to follow me on a more errr- normal(?) website to see my art, I have a bluesky account here! >vv< I can still post project stuff on twitter and take messages, but well, that's my plan for now Xvvx I'll be in touch if there's any updates. Thanks for understanding, I really appreciate you all and your support regardless how you give it ^vv^
Anyway, more fun news soon (and of course the best day of the year, halloween soon!!!), have a great weekend! ^vv^/
