Outside of their eternal battle against Jaws MacTaggart, the crew of the Stellar Federation fighter-cruiser Oshan Akuma have many other duties to perform. One of these is attending formal social gatherings at any naval base which invites them. These gatherings are intended to foster positive relations between planet-based forces and their spacegoing opposite numbers.
On this occasion, however, the commander of SFNB Mariar is clearly having second thoughts about inviting the crew of the Oshan Akuma. Between being bored stiff by tales of Commander Barratt's wartime exploits, and the less-than-exemplary conduct of his officers at the buffet table, I should be very surprised if she ever extends such an invitation to them again.
