Howling maws of pure resolve snapped and snarled, great cries of assertiveness echoed across the flooded valley forest. Prey animals fled the area, not so much out of fear or worry but an unrivalled respect to the encounter at the epicentre of the reverberating roars.
A Lagiacrus had grown tired of its ocean hunting ground and prowled up into the tropical forest that thickly lined this deeply cragged fjord. Its gaze darted through every waterfall and curtain of vines, sniffing every droplet and observing every shadow, only to come into a waterlogged clearing; one that was already occupied.
Mizutsune scattered back into the nearby caves and sodden underbrush, the largest male staying back to make a stand - yet, even still, was dwarfed in comparison against the lord of the seas. It threw up bubbles and flared its fins and scales to their biggest, but the Lagiacrus wasn't phased. It howled back with a threatening glare as it dragged itself closer, bolts of thunder energy crackling deep along the edges of its throat...
