In some versions of the game, if your inventory isn't full, anyone in your party who goes over an item will automatically pick it up. This is most infamous when you are swapping places with your partner / recruited wild pokemon. If your partner or you leave the room without paying for the item: The kacleon brothers will blame you & your entire team, even if it's just your partner who is at fault.
I should also mention:
- Didn't stock up because I didn't know the cave would be such high level, and mandatory (Has a savepoint before you enter... I saved; BIG mistake)
- Kept getting recruited wild pokemon into my party
- Since I was a Riolu, I thought my EVs would simply carry me. (They did not, this is what I get for deifying my 2 favorite pokemon as legendary idols)
I beginner's trapped myself.
