Mo’obolds or “Water Kobolds” are the much smaller worker drones of True Mo’o and serve their matriarchs much in the same way as a Kobolds would serve their dragons. It would be incorrect to call them male as opposed to the female Mo’o as they are not biologically capable of reproduction, meant to be more like worker drones of a colony, however if a group loses their matriarch without a daughter to replace her the most dominant Mo’obold can transition onto a True Mo’o. Mo'o do not tend to let this happen. If they find a group of Mo'obolds who are without a Mo'o they will quickly try to force them to join their own Harem, because a transitioned Mo'obold tends to be stronger than the average Mo'o due to how much effort a Mo'obold needs to work in order to become a True Mo'o.
Mo’obolds also have their own shifting ability but rather than being able to take on Humanoid forms, their shifting ability serves as camouflage allowing them to blend in with their environment and appear to be rock or part of a tree.
