Heh. I started writing about Martin Luther King day before I got to the last panel. It's also my birthday.
There's Black August (Not an official holiday, I know, but there should be at least one day commemorating that) All of the freedom and protest songs are valid then.
I've also heard Christmas music as early as October, and certainly well before Thanksgiving. (It's been creeping backwards for years)

Now that I think about it, I know what the stores and restaurants would bludgeon us with during August: anti-holiday music. But not just any anti-holiday music; the sappiest anti-holiday song ever. I'm talking, of course, about Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You".
