It's spooky Month and I decided to draw some classic horror characters as Pokemon, starting with Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde as a Morepeko. Morpeko is the Pikaclone of the Galar Region which is based on the UK, which is also where "The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" was written in 1886 by Scottish Author Robert Louis Stevenson.
People probably know the story's twist by now that Mr. Hyde was actually Dr. Jekyll after he had concocted a potion to spit the Evil and Good Halves of his Psyche, but that's not actually what happened in the book. Jekyll and Hyde had almost become Synonymous with the condition known as "Multiple Personality Disorder" Now more Academically known as "Disassociative Personality Disorder" A real condition typically brought on by trauma where a person can dissociate and become an entirely different person and usually come back with no memory of what they had been doing. Often times one personality known as the "Alt" will be more assertive or aggressive as a defense mechanism to protect their other half, but there is no actual limit to how many "Alts" can be within one System and they could have all manner of personalities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and even age Identity.
This is not what we see in the story of Jekyll and Hyde. The Potion never actually split Jekyll's good and evil halves in two and he swaps between personalities, nor is Jekyll unaware of what he's doing when he transforms into Hyde. All the Potion did was give him a physical transformation that allows the repressed victorian model citizen and pillar of the community Dr. Jekyll to anonymously get away with all the Evil acts he's always wanted with no repercussions like he's wearing a disguise. Dr. Jekyll was never really a good person, his reputation was just too important to him to allow his darkest urges to come out, but under the guise of Mr. Hyde he can do anything he wants, he's a stranger to everybody. It's not clear what all of his "Dark Desires" are; Given Victorian standards it could be anything from Beating Orphans to just being Gay, but as Hyde he is more inclined towards random acts of rage and violence like attacking a child he randomly bumped into or brutally beating an old man to death with his cane so I am going to air on the side of he's getting up to some serious crime.
Morpeko's transformation into its Hangry Form is possibly a reference to Jekyll and Hyde, but in my picture I decided to take it a step further by making the Hangry Form noticeably larger, almost looking like a Gengar when transformed, because in a World of Pokemon if you saw a Hangry Morpeko, you would know to trace their actions back to a Morpeko. Maybe this version of Dr. Jekyll used Gengar hair in his potion, so when he transforms he is purposely trying to confuse people into thinking he's a Gengar.
