And it seems our Spirit of halloween caught someone! Orion of all people, now what's gonna happen?

Walking through the pumpkin patch for over twenty minutes was coming up to be
a big fat of nothing for the liger. It looked to be another false alarm to tell
another client. Orion sighed as his flashlight sweep to and fro across the now dark
fields. His thoughts went back to the client. A buff kangaroo that burst through
their doors in a huff with panic in his eyes. From his breath alone those working
in the Dusk Hours figured he was inebriated. The roo spun a tale of how he and
his friends were just traveling past this place after a party having a good time
until they heard a guttural like roar that came from no normal anthro they knew.
They then claimed they saw the shadows of what could be best described as
monsters before they made a run for it. The roo described that something grabbed
onto his leg as he kicked it off in a panic. When asked to describe it was clear he
was far too drunk and too panic to have taken a moment to look.
A game of rock paper scissors was played and Orion had lost making him the one
to go out and investigate the scene of this so called ‘haunted pumpkin patch.’
Despite it feeling like a complete wash at least the jock of a kangaroo was able to
pay half the fee well enough. He could at least expect takeout when he came back
to report his findings.
His light then shined over at what were a collection of baseball bats and pipes as
the cat could only shake his head. It seemed the jocks did more then just stroll
along this place. A few steps later he saw destroyed and smashed pumpkins that
confirmed his thoughts. Very likely, the owner caught them and probably played
some scary sounds on a speaker somewhere to scare them off. That sounded like a
good enough story to appease the client. They can then get the other half of the
fee off of them and probably use it to celebrate the first week of October the right
way. Snacks and horror films.
Orion was about halfway in deciding the first movie to pick when at the corner of
his eyes he detected movement. His ears perked up as the sounds of leaves were
crunched under the weight of something. Immediately the liger turned his
flashlight in the direction of the noise only to find more pumpkins awaiting him.
He let out the breath he was holding, ready to head back to his truck but his
flashlight stopped on one particular pumpkin.
On cautious approached, he got a better look at it. It seemed this one was already
carved in. It was designed with triangular eyes with a circle left not carved to
represent the pupil. The mouth cut in a jagged teeth like smile as it almost seemed
to be greeting Orion in a way. The liger tilted his head. He could have sworn he
didn’t see any carved pumpkins the first time he walked within this area. Moving
the grip of the flashlight to his mouth he reached out to pick it up, tilting it to
side to side at first.
“Well someone likes the classics at least..” He said
And just like that, Orion felt the pumpkin wiggle and see the mouth of pumpkin
move
“And who is that someone?”
A voice came from within the pumpkin itself. Orion reflexively let go of both
pumpkin and flashlight as he heard a clatter and a splat at the same time. He
looked down at the destroyed pumpkin only to watch it start to reconstruct itself
back into it’s usual shape. It then began to float up towards Orion with eyes in the
expression of annoyance with it’s jagged mouth in a frown.
“Ow. Now that was really rude.” It said, but the cat could sense a hint of
amusement in it’s voice. “It seems I havn’t lost my touch in giving a good fright.
Ah yes, I can even hear it in your heart.~”
The pumpkin then hovered closer to Orion. The liger put up his hands defensively
while leaning away from this new discovery. His foot stepping right through
another pumpkin due to not looking.
The carved pumpkin looked down at it with a deeper frown. “And there goes my
backup to scare you from behind with. You must really hate pumpkins my new
friend.”
Their expression however changed as it appeared to be that of a quizzical one.
“Yet, you’re not running away screaming in pure fear. Now why is that…”
At that point Orion could feel the gourd pushing against his hands trying to get
inches to his face. Despite it’s size the gourd offered a lot more resistance then
what felt normally possible. Just how strong was this thing?
Well..” The liger started feeling himself calm down. Whatever this entity was it
was at least chatty and not attacking him.
“This isn’t my first rodeo with the supernatural.”
“Oh is that so?~”
There was an amusement in those eyes as the pumpkin looked down at the
ground appearing in thought. In that moment Orion looked back at the truck that
was a distance away. He left his phone in there. Of all the times to do that. Maybe
if he could inch away just enough he could reach it and tell the others.
Before he could even take a step, the pumpkin head snapped back up eyes staring
right at the Liger as it’s jagged teeth twisted into a devious grin.
“Oh yes, you’ll do wonderfully then”
Those were ominous words. The liger eyes locked with the pumpkin’s own when
he heard it. It was very well time to run. Yet when he tried, his body wasn’t
responding to him. He felt his heart rate increasing again and his body suddenly
trembling yet Orion didn’t feel this level of scared. Not even close. It felt as if it
was pushed into him and caused his body to become paralyzed in fear
“Now now, can’t have you running from me.”
The head said as Orion’s could only follow it with it’s eyes as it floated up face to
face with him.
“Let me introduce myself. You mortal can call me Pumpkyn, the spirit of
halloween itself.”
There was a pause to the head as it threw back his head to cackle in laughter as if
proud of that accomplisment. Once it settled down it continued.
“Your town is quite impressive, if there are people like you that don’t get scared
too easily. That tears it, I consider this a challenge. I must make this town the
scariest place on the planet. Oh yes, I can see it all now. This shall be my greatest
work yet.”
Their eyes appeared to stare up at the sky before lowering down back at Orion.
“And you’re going to help me do all of it.”
Orion found himself only able to rock his body slightly, grunting before barely get
out from his near trembling lips
“Don’t want to.”
“And I wasn’t asking. Now, come here.”
The gourd pulled back a few feet only to whiz right toward Orion’s face. The
jagged mouth changing to many rows of fangs as it began to open wide. It may
have been either luck or reflexes kicking in but Orion felt his legs give out just
when the pumpkin head was close to impacting with his own. His hair felt the
wind that passed by him as Pumpkyn had missed him before a silence came over
the area. A long pause came next before finally the pumpkin returned back within
Orion’s view back to it’s normal smiling face.
“We’ll try that again. Now…COME HERE”
And with that the groud fly plainly to smacked against Orion’s face with a thud,
stunning the Liger. There was no pain from it yet the force was enough to cause
his body to tip backwards. The wind was whistling past the Liger’s ears while his
vision was filled with nothing orange. He knew he hit the ground at any second
now but all he could do was watch the mouth of the pumpkin appear in his vision
as it opened wider and wider. The mouth strenched well beyond it’s normal limits
before going over his head and then..
*Snap*
The world went dark for a few moments as the Liger had feared the worse. When
he realized his heart was still beating and that he was still thinking he could at
least dismiss the entity had killed him. He tried to looked around in the darkness
but his head was not obeying him just like the rest of his body that was until he
found himself blink just once.
Suddenly his vision was back as he stood upon the rows of pumpkins once more.
Yet the angle of it felt weird. The Liger felt as if he was in a reclined position and
yet he didn’t feel the ground at his rear or even his feet.
‘What just happened?’ he thought.
‘Only something wonderful~’ He found himself thinking back in response, yet it
seemed almost mocking in away. His hands then closed into a fist as it began to
knock against his head suddenly. Two things came from this realization. The first
was that his head responded with a hollow thud as he knocked against it. The
second, it wasn’t him that was controlling his hand.
When his eyes moved down on it’s own he realized he was just floating above the
ground like some form of spirit. Spirit.
‘Oh no, did it just possessed me?’ He thought as he tried to strain against his own
body trying to regain control of it.
‘Oh yes, and might I say this is quite the wonderful body too.’ His thoughts
responded back. With that his fingers snapped causing dressing room mirror to
appear right in front of them. The frame of the mirror decorated at the top with a
bat while the bottom displayed a that of pumpkins and gravestones.
Orion’s blood went cold the moment he saw himself. His head was gone. In it’s
place was that of the pumpkin that had smacked into him earlier. He found
himself holding his own chin as his body was made to move closer as the pumpkin
inspected himself throughly. The jagged teeth smile turned to a frown as he shook
his head. It then spoke in a voice that sounded a mix of both him and Orion if
mixed together.
“Hrm, now this won’t do. Sure we got the face but the rest of us..”
He then motioned towards the clothes. The black vest and blue scarf Orion was
wearing. A light bulb flashed above the pumpkin. Orion could see it right above
their head.
“Ah I know!” The spirit exclaimed.
It then spun the body it stolen in several quick rotations that it became a blur.
Orion couldn’t see anything but the dazzling colors of orange and purple as he
couldn’t help but wonder if this what being a tornado felt like. Before he could
ponder further, the spirit stopped and stared at the mirror once more. Orion
needed a shaking to stop the world from spinning and tilting to get a good look as
well.
“Marvelous, simply marvelous. Now THIS is much more festive”
Through the reflection Orion could see that his body was wearing a purple long
suit jacket with an orange waistcoat underneath. Above the waistcoat was a
auburn red dress shirt tucked inside with a bright orange bowtie above it. To tie it
all up, he notice he wore green dress pants with polished green shoes compliment
them.
“Absolutely perfect.”
The spirit said as it observed it’s new floating body in various angles, one of them
even being upside down. Pumpkyn even went so far as to pull at both side of it’s
mouth to stretch it out as far as normally possible before letting go as his face
snapped right back into shape. A degree of glee was clear within it’s eyes.
“Now that that’s all settled, my dear new friend Orion..” The spirit brought Orion’s
hands towards both sides of the mirror from a distance and began to squish both
hands together with a clap. When he pulled it back the mirror appeared to have
beens squished out of existence.
“Shall we go visit your coworkers, who are they now…” There was a delay in it’s
words “Ah yes, Demaciaus, Hedge and Terrel. They’ll make fine additions to our
plans don’t you think?” Orion felt panic at those words. He never mentioned his
name or who he was with. Not only had the spirit taken his body but had free
reign to his own mind. He now knew what Orion knew. The Liger was trapped
with no way to send help. Just a passenger in his own body as it floated it’s way
towards the office as Orion could only sigh internally in defeat.
“Aw don’t be so dour. Once the month is up. I’ll return you your body safe and
sound but for this month I shall use it to bring out some real screams” Those last
words came out almost monstrous. All Orion could do was hope that the others
could at least figure out how to deal with this thing and whatever it had planned.
For now it seemed it was going to be a very long October
