My very first own graphic tablet came today in the mail, and I figured I could give it a shot. Right now I am trying to grow accustomed to the thing.
This is a speed painting of my friend 2257. I must admit, this was very interesting to make. Being able to apply variable pressure with a pen-like object instead of having only one pressure setting with a mouse opens up a whole lot of new possibilities for my art.
I hope that I can turn those possibilities into advantages for my future projects.

I know what you mean. The first time I tried one of those things at a friend's place, I was drawing like a klutz. While this picture turned out relatively well, drawing with a pencil still feels a lot safer. I usually do preparatory sketches before drawing an image, and I think I will still do those with an actual pencil in the future. This image was an exception, in that it was made 100% digitally.
Where the graphic tablet really came in handy, though, was the digital coloration. It just feels very smooth and all that, sort of like wielding a really advanced brush of sorts. Once I figure out how to make use of this properly, I think I can build on that.

I'm a little busier than I was some years ago nowadays, and some of the artwork I draw I cannot publish everywhere due to... uh... complications. Still, I feel sort of bad for having everything stagnate over here. I'm planning to do a bit more art in the future, and also to retool and finally get off the ground that webcomic I started months ago.
