FUN FACT: Maine is the most forested state in the United States, with nearly nine out of ten acres covered in woodland. On top of that, because it's fairly far north, the night in the colder months would be longer than in much of the rest of the country. This would probably make the state a good hiding and hunting spot for werewolves.
